Job description
When considering applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of veterinary parasitology with a particular focus on host-parasite interactions and experimental parasitology in general. In particular, a high level of research activity within infection dynamics, immune reactions, pathogenicity, diagnostics, control and/or diet-parasite interactions should be documented. The focus of the section has mainly been livestock, including horses, but companion animals, poultry and rodent models have increasingly been included. The successful applicant should preferably have experience with several of these areas.
The professorship is located within the Section for Parasitology and Aquatic Diseases, which addresses broadly aspects of parasite infections and parasitic diseases in animals and man. Within veterinary parasitology, the section has a strong research tradition on integrated and sustainable control of parasitic diseases, including dietary interventions and drugs, as well as population and infection biology of mainly helminths in domestic animals. This includes host immunity, parasite-induced immuno-modulation, epidemiology, pathogenesis, molecular genetics and diagnostics.
The professor will be responsible for teaching parasitology within the veterinary curriculum and animal science.

Terms of employment
The position is a permanent position.
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.

After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee. All applicants are then immediately notified whether their application has been passed for assessment. The Dean then appoints an expert assessment committee in order to make an assessment of the selected applicants for the specific post. Selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant him/herself.
