About the jobThe main activity for our new colleague is to support scientific staff with statistical analysis in the form of advisory consultations as well as leading the analysis for specific projects. In collaboration with scientific staff the relevant candidate will work to contribute to ensure the scientific integrity of the Department’s research through rigorous and high-level statistical analysis.
A broad understanding of statistical modelling is required to match the research at different scales from individual laboratory experiments to large-scale long-term studies. Methodologies that the statistician is required to know about are general and generalised mixed effects modelling, multivariate analysis, time series analysis, non-linear least squares fitting and classical statistics.
It is expected that the candidate can collaborate with researchers at different levels of statistical knowledge and support the research at the Department of Agroecology with professional statistical knowledge and solutions.
Your profileWe are looking for a person with some of the following personal and professional qualifications:
- Good communication skills and you are self-organised and interested in developing the statistical rigour of the Department. Ability to prioritise tasks effectively is an advantage.
- The ability to explain statistics in a way that is understandable to both junior and senior researchers with backgrounds outside of statistics.
- Availability to assist developing courses in statistics for undergraduate and graduate students together with the academic staff of the Department of Agroecology.
- PhD degree and research experience within a relevant field where applied statistics have been a key element in your work.
- Experience with data handling and flexibility in using a wide range of statistical methodologies, both frequentist and Bayesian.
- Proven expertise in classical statistical methods (analysis of variance, regression, mixed model analysis, generalised linear models, categorical data analysis, non-parametric analysis, multivariate statistics).
