The Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering (BCE), Aarhus University is seeking a fulltime academic employee.
The academic employee will be part of our technical support team and refer to the laboratory manager. The position is available from 1 June 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Activities:The academic employees main duties are to ensure the operation, maintenance and performance of advanced analytical equipment including data treatment. The candidate can be involved in X-ray diffraction, SXRD, PXRD, DSC, TGA, GC-MS, LC-MS, HPLC, GPC, BET, IR, Raman and PPMS instruments.
The academic employee will join and work closely together with the team of lab technicians, other academic employee, researchers and students at BCE and should expect to spend most of the working hours in the instrument laboratory.
Work tasks:- Streamlined daily operation of equipment e.g., setting up procedures, sample preparation and data processing.
- Maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and service of analytical equipment, either by yourself, with internal, or an external specialist, to ensure continuous and reliable operation of the analytical equipment/results.
- Method development addressing specific scientific measurements, including assisting the trained and un-trained users in obtaining analytical data of reliable quality.
- Take the lead and/or assist in equipment purchase, i.e. coordinate between researchers and suppliers, and prepare materials for tender.
- Site planning and communication with facility management/supplier to ensure physical frames for equipment installation are available.
Background and qualifications:The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- An academic background - PhD level within chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science & engineering or equivalent.
- Documented experience with operating and maintaining scientific analytical equipment is a requirement.
- Experience of scientific data treatment, analysis and interpretation.
- Experience in method development, optimization and comfortable to get familiar with new/unknown software.
- Fluent in English
