Our research The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research’s vision is to pioneer groundbreaking research towards better cardiometabolic health. We wish to lead collaborative interdisciplinary research from single-cell genomics to whole-body systems, transforming the basic understanding of cardiometabolic health, and accelerating its translation into prevention and treatment strategies. Our group and research The
Multi-Modal Bioinformatics Group led by Professor Simon Rasmussen focuses on developing and applying computational methods that integrate complex biological data, especially genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metagenomics. A focus of the Group is to develop and apply deep learning for integration of such datasets to create new biological knowledge. The Group develops bioinformatics methods using either public data or data generated by our collaborators.
Your job The position is an Academic Officer position. The candidate will help gather, organize and clean large scale biological data. Work tasks will also include testing and quality assurance of our bioinformatics workflows. Moreover, the candidate is expected to provide general support to the different researchers within the Group at various stages of their research.
Qualifications The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor degree in biology, molecular biology, bioinformatics or a related field
- Some knowledge of metagenomics, microbial ecology or microbiology
- Experience in computational biology, bioinformatics or deep learning
- Programming experience in a dynamic language like Bash, Python, Julia or R
- An interest in big data biology and/or plasmid biology
- Excellent communication skills, and good written and spoken English
As the research group works highly collaboratively, including with other groups nationally and internationally, strong networking and team player skills are a must.
Place of employment The place of employment is the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of salary and employment The employment as Academic Officer is a permanent position. The working hours are 12 hours pr. week. The expected starting date is March 1, 2025, or after agreement.
Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experience and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
