Job summary

Queen Berengaria School opened in January 2023 and is an amalgamation of two primary schools. We are located in Dhekelia, serving two communities and with a diverse population of Army, Navy, RAF and Civilian families. FS2 � Year 6 children are educated in the main school building in Dhekelia, whilst our FS1 children are educated in the Early Years Settings located in Ayios Nikolaos and Dhekelia.

Children are at the heart of all we do and in QBS, we pride ourselves in creating a culture which allows all to flourish and achieve. We aim to �Dream, Believe, Achieve � Together� and have an experienced staff team who have supported our Service Families for many years. Despite being a relatively new school, we are well-regarded in the local community.

We are looking for a dynamic, inspirational, caring and excellent Class Teacher, for whom our values and ethos resonate, to become part of our team.

QBS offers an English education, drawing on our host nation�s culture, to children between 3 and 11 years of age. Numbers on roll vary with assignments and usually we have approximately 300 children. Classes are structured in single year groups with 2-form entry.

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. As such using data to aid understanding of our workforce is vital.

This position is advertised as a full time Class Teacher�

This is an established MoD post within Cyprus and any Cypriot National will not be eligible to apply as a UKBC (UK British Civil Servant).�

Job description

Teaching responsibilities include:

  • To be responsible for learning and achievement of all students in your classes, ensuring equal opportunity for all
  • To raise standards of students� attainment and progress within teaching groups and to supervise and support student progress in line with expectations of the school
  • To accurately supervise the progress and achievements of students within teaching groups and provide feedback to enable them to progress at least in line with expectations
  • To be accountable for student progress and development within teaching groups against targets set by the school
  • To provide support and intervention for students at risk of underachieving
  • To participate in collaborative planning and sharing good practice with other members of the school team
  • To contribute to the development of a curriculum area or areas and subject specific resources
  • To treat pupils with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect, and at all times observing accurate boundaries appropriate to a teacher�s professional position
  • To work proactively and effectively in partnerships with learners, parents/carers, governors, other staff and external agencies in the best interests of pupils
  • To act within the statutory framework, which sets out professional duties and responsibilities and in line with the duties outlined on the current School Teachers Pay and Condition Document and Teacher Standards
  • To take ownership for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within school

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate is expected to hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and successful completion of induction.

    Evidence of qualification will be required at interview. All qualifications declared must be held at point of application and if applicable be in date.

  • Qualifications

    It is essential to hold Qualified Teacher Status as defined by the Department for Education.
