Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacy, and Environmental Medicine at the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark, is offering a new part-time position (10 %) for an assistant or associate professor within pharmacoepidemiology.

The position is limited to 5 years with the possibility of extension.

The position is to be filled from April 1st, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The academic position
The research areas of Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacy and Environmental Medicine (CPPEM) span from pharmacological epidemiology to clinical studies and cell-based basic pharmacology. CPPEM has a strong background in investigations of exposure to environmental chemicals, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacogenetics, pharmacokinetics, drug-drug interactions and therapeutic drug monitoring. The academic position is affiliated with the pharmacoepidemiologic research group, that utilizes the Danish registries to assess pharmacological questions in large populations.

The area of research is flexible within the area of pharmacoepidemiologic research and could be (but is not limited to) safety and efficacy of drug use. The department has a strong focus on interdisciplinary collaboration both in-house and with external researchers and the new person is expected to continue this tradition.

Expectations and qualifications
The applicant will be expected to establish their own research area within the pharmacoepidemiologic research group at the department. Thus, the applicant should be able to attract external research funding to support research and employ scientific and technical staff. The applicant may have a background within pharmacy, medicine or biomedicine.

Additionally, we expect that you will contribute to administrative duties, e.g., participating in Study Board or other similar activities.

Fluent English (both written and spoken) is required. You are expected to have qualifications that renders it probable that you will be able to establish your own research area within the research unit. Further, you are required to have a PhD degree or similar research experience.

The research unit
Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacy and Environmental Medicine today has approximately 50 employees. It consists of three separate research groups: pharmacoepidemiology, translational pharmacology and environmental medicine. Additionally, it collaborates closely with the Department of Pharmacology at OUH. Collectively, this constitutes Denmark’s largest center for research, teaching and clinical service in pharmacology.

It produces approximately 100 international peer-reviewed publications per year.

Professor Tore B. Stage heads the unit and Professor Pernille Tanggaard Andersen heads the Department.
