The Department of Clinical Medicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor in the field of translational bladder cancer research as per 1 March 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a fixed-term full-time position for 4 years.
Department of Clinical MedicineAs an assistant professor of translational bladder cancer research at the Department of Clinical Medicine, you will be part of what is probably the largest health science research department in Denmark. Our clinical research covers all the medical specialties and takes place in close collaboration with the university hospital and the regional hospitals in the Central Denmark Region. The department has overall responsibility for the master’s degree programs in medicine and in molecular medicine. At the department we are approx. 670 academic employees, 500 PhD students and 160 technical/administrative employees who are cooperating across disciplines. here.Your job responsibilitiesAs Assistant Professor of translational bladder cancer research your primary tasks will be research and research-based teaching. You will teach and supervise students at Bachelor’s and master’s level, and you will contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with both Danish and international colleagues. The position of Assistant Professor is a career development position in which you will receive supervision and pedagogical upgrading.
Your main tasks will consist of:
- Independent research of high international quality, including publication.
- Research in bladder cancer related projects: mechanisms of treatment response, circulating tumor DNA, tumor evolution, bioinformatics and biomarker development.
- Teaching, guidance and examination of bachelor’s and master’s degree students, as well as possibly supervision of PhD students.
- Some degree of contribution towards attracting external research funding.
You will report to Professor Lars Dyrskjøt Andersen.
Your competences You have independent research-related qualifications at a high international level. You are a clear communicator, and you have some degree of experience of supervision and teaching at bachelor’s and master’s degree level. We draw attention to completed pedagogical courses in supervision or similar, as well as experience with the establishment of PhD courses and external research collaborations. You have scientific qualifications at PhD level, preferentially within the following areas: cancer biology, circulating tumor DNA, bioinformatics, analysis of large data sets (WES, WGS, RNA-seq). It is also expected that you have experience in collaborating with clinical departments, as well as companies and international collaborators.
As a person you have good interpersonal skills and are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment.
We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English. International applicants are expected to learn Danish, and Aarhus University arranges Danish teaching.
