The Centre for Nano Optics (www.sdu.dk/nano-optics) at the Mads Clausen Institute, University of Southern Denmark, in Odense seeks outstanding candidates to fill an assistant professor position Nanoop171 in the research and teaching area of experimental nano-optics. The position duration is 3 years starting from August 2025.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct cutting-edge experimental research within nano-optics involving advanced electromagnetic modeling, nanofabrication and optical characterization of active nanophotonic components, operating across visible and telecom wavelength ranges. The high-level expertise in using electron beam lithography, Raman and two-photon luminescence microscopy is expected being complemented with other nanofabrication and optical characterization techniques.
The prospective candidates should have a Ph.D. degree within the mentioned research area and documented research experience in the aforementioned experimental techniques. They are expected to have a notable international profile, strong record of research publications, and demonstrated exceptional potential to excel in scientific research. We expect the candidate to actively engage in the development of academic research and educational environment at the Centre for Nano Optics.
The candidate is expected to teach and instruct both graduate and undergraduet students as well as supervise bachelor and master projects. Furthermore, the candicate is expected to contribute actively to young-researcher education through supervision of Ph.D. students and postdoctorial researchers.

Conditions of employment
Appointment as assistant professor is temporary and for an initial 3-year period.
Employment as assistant professor requires scientific qualifications at minimum PhD level at the time of employment.
During employment, the assistant professor will complete the Lecturer Training Programme.
Employment will be in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations for academics in the state with the associated circular on the protocol for the job structure for academic staff at Danish universities and the provisions for assistant professor as described herein. The person employed in the position may, based on a specific individual managerial evaluation, be exempted from time registration, also known as a “self-organiser”.
