Are you interested in becoming part of a team of technology professionals advising on mergers and acquisitions? Do you have an investigative and inquisitive mindset to unravel complex technology matters?

In the Tech M&A team at KPMG Denmark, we are professionals with a wide variety of expertise, including software development, IT business applications, and M&A strategy. Our work is deeply embedded in the M&A process, both pre-deal and post-deal, and highly focused on technology and IT. At the core, we enable successful mergers, acquisitions, and divestments by ensuring that technology and IT supports and aligns with a specific investment thesis and strategic outlook of our clients, primarily through due diligence (DD) or integration & separation engagements.

During DD projects, we analyse IT systems, platforms, and applications to identify risks, assess scalability, and uncover opportunities. This often involves reviewing core IT infrastructures, cybersecurity setups and software architectures.

In integration and separation (I&S) projects, we guide clients through the complexities of combining IT landscapes after a merger or carving out IT systems during a divestment.

Advise clients on their acquisition goals

We are looking for a full-time Associate with a background or strong interest in development, software architecture and infrastructure, as well as business strategy. Interested candidates for Senior Associate or Manager roles are also welcome to apply.

In a deal context, it can happen that the buyers are not technology or IT experts, or that they need a deep dive into specific topics. They need to ensure a high level of quality in technology and IT om order to have security in their deal thesis and ensure a successful transaction.

This is where we step in. With our deep knowledge of IT, technology, and M&A, we bridge the gap between our clients and the complex technical realities of their target companies.

We work with CIOs, CTOs, and IT leaders to gather key insights about a company’s IT and technology. From there, we analyze critical IT and technology areas in a structured approach that allows us to uncover key opportunities and risks, which we then formulate into detailed findings.

What your tasks will look like:

As an Associate in Technology M&A, you will:

  • IT and Tech Due Diligence: Evaluate IT infrastructure, platforms, and software to identify risks, opportunities, and alignment with transaction goals.
  • Integration Planning and Execution: Design and implement strategies for combining IT systems post-merger.
  • Carve-Out Planning and Support: Develop solutions for separating IT environments during divestments while maintaining operational continuity.
  • Technology Evaluation: Use your development background to assess scalability, security, and functionality of technology assets.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with deal teams and stakeholders to deliver actionable insights and recommendations.

About you, our newest team member

Do you see yourself in any of this?

  • Have a solid foundation in software development or software architecture, either from studies or from working in the field.
  • Experiences or a strong interest in IT operations or IT management, e.g., concerning business applications/ERP, network or hosting infrastructure or vendor management, are beneficial.
  • Have some experience or strong interest in business strategy and M&A.
  • Understand, or is eager to learn about, business strategy, M&A processes, and how technology plays a pivotal role in successful transactions.
  • Can handle the complexity of the role, which requires both development knowledge and the ability to apply business insights in a fast-paced environment.
  • Are comfortable with continuous learning, as this is a complex and evolving position where new situations arise quickly.
  • Can analyse complex software and IT setups at a fast pace, even though we don’t develop software ourselves.

Why you should join us:

  • Varied insights: Joining our team offers unparalleled exposure to a large number of different companies and their IT and software infrastructures. You’ll quickly gain a holistic perspective across different businesses and IT or tech setups by analysing and assessing numerous systems, thereby developing a strong ability to quickly identify the strengths and weaknesses of any IT setup you encounter.
  • Significant impact: We’re a small, growing team, so your contributions will directly shape our way of working and client impact.
  • Supportive team culture: With significant responsibilities and freedom, you’ll have the opportunity to master your career while being supported by everyone around you. At KPMG, effort is rewarded, and the opportunity for growth is limitless.
  • Unique learning opportunities: Explore the intersection of technology, business, and M&A whilst shaping your own learning path, together with strong support from the company.
  • Keep your focus on the need-to-have qualifications. Avoid long lists, which deter candidates from applying and can limit the diversity of the applicant pool. Avoid clichés when describing personal skills.
