Backend Engineer (DevOps Focus)

Tasks

• Legacy System Migration: Collaborate with the team to strategically migrate existing PHP components to Node.js, ensuring seamless transition and minimal disruption to users.
• API Development: Design and develop a centralized API layer to facilitate efficient and secure communication between various components of our platform.
• Data Management: Redesign customer data handling, migrating from MySQL to PostgreSQL, and ensuring GDPR compliance throughout the process.
• DevOps Practices: Champion DevOps principles by actively participating in the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and cloud migration strategies.
• Incremental Delivery: Contribute to the planning and execution of incremental releases, focusing on delivering value continuously through small, functional improvements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
• Documentation and Testing: Meticulously document API endpoints, data schemas, and maintain comprehensive testing reports.
• Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify areas for improvement in our backend systems and processes, and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the team.

Requirements

Experience:

• 5+ years of backend development experience with a strong focus on Node.js.
• Proven experience in migrating legacy systems to modern architectures.
• Solid understanding of API design principles and best practices (RESTful APIs).
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with data migration strategies and techniques.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in Node.js and related frameworks (Express.js).
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools and processes (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Familiarity with security best practices and GDPR compliance.
