About the program
Are you interested in learning the ins and outs of what it takes to build successful start-up companies in the Life Science industry? Are you a recent graduate with an affinity for science and an inherent interest in the entrepreneurial journey to success? Than the BII Venture Lab fellowship program might be what you are looking for!
The BioInnovation Institute is seeking candidates with a strong scientific background, an entrepreneurial spirit and potentially early business experience to join the program. Over the course of 6 to 9 months (depending on your preference) you will:
- Actively work with and join of one BIIs Venture Lab companies
- Drive business development, market research, competitive landscaping analysis, business case development and project management for a designated company
- Participate in the BII's Venture Lab program
- Be part of a company's fundraising journey
- Learn about the inner workings of life science start-ups and what it takes to raise seed or series A investments from Venture Capitalists, Business Angels or other commercial sources
- You will gain exposure to our broad network of entrepreneurs, portfolio companies, venture capital firms and big pharma
- Get extensive career guidance and education aimed to groom you into a future entrepreneur, investor or accelerator
Candidate profile
Professional qualifications:
- MSc or PhD in biology, (bio)chemistry, bioengineering, bioprocessing, physics, mathematics, business strategy, business development or related fields
- Interested in learning what it takes to translate science into business and venture building experience
- Demonstrated ability to understand research results and the potential transition of these into commercial business propositions
- Demonstrated interest in the commercialization of life science research via the active work in start-up/life-science industry
Personal qualifications:
- Inherent interest in the commercialization of innovation in the fields of either, biotherapeutics, industrial biotechnology and healthtech
- Exceptional communication skills and willingness to engage and challenge experienced founders on a daily basis
- Self-aware with the desire for continuous self-improvement

Timeline:
