Business & Service Design Intern

Help test, iterate and design a intentional living brand inspired by Japanese and East Asian philosophy

Lolo x Design Lab is looking for creative and strategic interns to help shape shōkkakō: Small (Certain) Happiness, a design-led brand focused on intentional living, sensory experiences and individual fulfilment and wellbeing. This is an opportunity to apply business design, service design, and digital strategy to a real-world brand in its early stages.

LoloxDesign Lab: A Strategic Design Lab where design meets multidisciplinary expertise to empower meaningful change. It leverages the synergy between Design and multidisciplinary fields to support change-makers in realising meaningful change across three dimensions of the human system—individuals as leaders, organisations, and society.

shōkkakō Small (Certain) Happiness: A brand dedicated to nurture a sensitivity to life’s quiet, subtle, and often unexpected joys, helping people cultivate an awareness of meaningful moments that bring fulfilment. Through sensory products, playful reminders, and thoughtful experiences, the brand encourages an intentional yet lighthearted approach to self-discovery—one that empowers individuals to notice, appreciate, and create happiness in the present.

What You’ll Be Working On

(You don’t need to check all the boxes, if any of the below stream(s) is of interest to you, please reach out):

Business Design & Validation Stream:

• Apply Lean Startup methodology and Strategizer’s Testing Business Ideas framework to validate business opportunities.

• Use signal mining via SoMe ads to analyze market demand and consumer behavior.

• Create online/SoMe Advertising Strategy for the brand (Previous experience in online advertising is a plus).

• Explore market positioning strategies for a unique e-commerce and online service delivery business.

Service & Experience Design Stream:

• Plan and implement human-centred research to identify and validate brand target audience.

• Design mindful and wellness-focused customer experiences aligned with the brand’s philosophy.

• Develop product and service offerings that encourage small moments of happiness and intentional living.

• Research and prototype service blueprint, customer journeys, artefacts, and touchpoints.

Digital & Brand Strategy Stream:

• Interpret and expand on existing brand strategy and create digital content strategy align with both new design research insight and the existing strategy.

• Work on improving web and digital presence custom HTML & CSS (Shopify experience a plus).

• Implement, test above strategy by creating and testing digital content (visual and digital design portfolio is required).

• Iterate content strategy based on insights from experiments.

Who You Are:

✔️ A proactive problem-solver who enjoys experimenting with business ideas, designing service systems or creative directions of brands.

✔️ Skilled in at least one (or more) of the streams above either through previous work experience or personal projects.

✔️ Passionate about mindfulness, individual fulfilment, and intentional living.

✔️ Interested in Japan, East Asia, and cultural storytelling (a plus but not required).

✔️ Can dedicate 8 hours per week on your work over 6 months.

✔️ Can speak and write English fluently. Any other language skills is a plus.

*This position provides no monetary compensation at this point in time. Business related expenses will be covered upon agreement.
