In this exciting position as Category Manager for Kitchen & Party you will support the Category Director in developing and creating the category and product strategy for Kitchen and Party aligned to our commercial and company vision, delivering against the financial targets and profitability goals through a clear understanding of our consumers in all markets and channels.

You will be responsible for ensuring that our target consumers are at the forefront of every decision made. Strategically you will focus on commercial growth initiatives ensuring that sustainability and profitability are at the heart of everything we do. You know how best to trade the annual calendar by season through the campaign and fixed assortments, so we always deliver unique and inspiring products to our consumers.

As a people manager, you lead by example and know how to support and develop a passionate and retail-focused team. We work cross-functionally across the business and collaborate on problem-solving to simplify operations and generate speed.

You will be part of a large and engaged Product team and report directly to the Category Director. We are all based at our vibrant and international head office in the heart of Copenhagen.

 

 These are the main tasks of the position

  • Using design direction, market data, consumer insights and historical information working collaboratively with the Merchandising Planning Team to execute the category/product strategy aligned to the company vision and Brand DNA.
  • Conduct competitor mapping, identify potential market share growth opportunities by country and channel including social media.
  • As an innovator within the company, you will influence the design of your categories, as well as develop new products with the Product Managers within the team.
  • Effectively communicate the strategy within the team and to external partners.
  • Using the strategy and working collaboratively with Category Director, Design and the Merchandising Team and create commercial assortment plans that align with the store grading and price architecture
  • Align the campaign collection to ensure that the agreed balance of unique product and newness, both in products and categories is created to ensure we continue to deliver inspiring products.
  • Working with the Category Director and Product Procurement team and supply base focusing on delivery of intake margins managing the cost price to agreed financial targets.
  • Continually review the supply base in conjunction with the Product Procurement team to investigate new suppliers and markets to get the best commercial product.
  • Weekly sales reviews working with Merchandising team and Category Director to assess performance compared to budget and last year.  Working with the Product Managers to maximize sales and minimize markdown risks.
  • Attend fairs, supplier showrooms, trend sites, websites etc. to ensure best in class assortments are built for both fixed and campaign builds and continually test and trial ideas to capture trends and opportunities.
  • In collaboration with the Category Director, successfully lead the team of Product Managers, Product Coordinators and Student Assistants adhering and keeping the team on track to all deadlines as agreed on the company critical path include meeting sign offs

 

This is you

  • Ideally, you have previous experience within Homeware products at a product development level working in collaboration with a varied supply base.
  • Commercial mindset, strong business acumen, analytical thinking with a thorough understanding of sales analysis.
  • Strong feel for product, ability to create and select commercial winners.
  • Creation of commercially effective assortment plans based on fact-based analysis, a deep understanding of the consumer and an ability to interpret trends and predictions in the market.
  • Support and development of high-performing teams and the ability to manage effectively through change.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to analyze data, interpret it and present in a confident and effective manner.
  • Problem-solving-oriented and forward-thinking with a lot of drive and self-motivation.
  • Organized and structured, able to prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Forward thinker, driven by curiosity, able to understand and anticipate consumer trends to identify gaps and opportunities.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in English (both written and spoken).
