Taconic is seeking a collaborative Buyer, who can drive Taconic’s overall procurement strategy including supply strategy toward Best-in-Class through continuous improvement of the supply-base.
Through identification of alternate supply sources, the Buyer must champion a continuous improvement effort to benchmark and qualify alternate sources and/or foster improvement of current suppliers.
As a Buyer at Taconic Biosciences, you are responsible for assessing completeness of Purchase Requisitions, converting Requisitions into Purchase Orders, placing Purchase Orders with suppliers, arranging for freight, delivery, and communication back to requisitioner. The responsibilities include problem resolution and follow-up interaction with the receiving department, accounts payable, suppliers and common carriers. You are a team player with the ability and flexibility to connect across functions and regions.
Your main tasks will be:
Achieve significant and measurable favorable cost impact through the application of sound supply management skills. Understand and comply with all Purchasing policies, regulations, and SOPs. Evaluate all requisitions for completeness of specification, approval, tax status. Convert Purchase Requisitions into Purchase Orders and place with suppliers. Expedite orders as needed to support the business. Follow-up on problem resolution efforts with end-users, suppliers, accounts payable and receiving. Support Quality Assurance regarding non-conformance issues – arranging for returns, credits and replacement materials. Assist with end-user purchasing training. Be able to effectively lead cross-functional teams including our requestor base, engineering community, and scientific staff. This will require an aptitude toward learning and applying technical principles. Perform detailed analysis of purchase history, determine projected spend, and identify areas for consolidation, rationalization, and cost-reduction. Act as liaison between end-users and suppliers for process improvements and productivity initiatives. Build successful partnerships with our suppliers through proper supplier relationship management (i.e., win-win negotiations, securing long-term contracts and monitoring their performance). Communicate cost savings, cost increases and supply chain disruptions to Corporate Procurement. Support the Supplier/Critical item approval process to ensure all suppliers/products meet relevant standards and quality To succeed you must have: A commercial education or a bachelor’s degree in economics or supply chain. Experience from a similar function in an international matrix organization. Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques. Talent in negotiations and networking. Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers. Experience in collecting and analyzing data. Strong problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient in all Microsoft applications. Knowledge of MRP systems such as NetSuite or SAP is necessary for this position. Excellent people skills to develop relationships with stakeholders and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization. Fluency in English and Danish language. A genuine positive work ethic and the ability to work well in a team environment and in an international setup. Working at Taconic:
As a Buyer, you will work closely with all employment groups in Taconic. Your key stakeholders are colleagues in Operations/Animal Production in Denmark.
You will be part of a small team of 2 buyers based in Denmark (you) and Germany and refer to the Director of Procurement located in the USA. You will have support from all areas in the organization.
We offer you a full-time position at our production site at Lille Skensved. You can occasionally work from home.
