We are looking for a consultant or specialist Psychiatrist to join our Forensic Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic in Slagelse, Denmark.
Who We AreOur department comprises a team of 7 dedicated consultants and specialists who value collaboration, a supportive work environment, and professional growth. Together, we manage up-to 150 forensic psychiatric patients with complex care needs.
Our clinic is centrally located in the town of Slagelse and operates with satellite units across the region. We are a diverse and interdisciplinary team that includes 12 nurses and a social worker, supported by two physicians in the outpatient clinic.
The Department of Forensic Psychiatry is part of Psychiatry, Region Zealand, and includes:
- 4 closed forensic psychiatric units with 50 beds.
- A national Security Ward accommodating 30 patients.
- Comprehensive services for remand prisoners, patients requiring mental observation, and those hospitalised under court orders.
Our integrated forensic psychiatric system in Slagelse is unique in Denmark, offering unparalleled opportunities for professional immersion in a specialised field.
What You’ll DoAs a consultant, you will balance clinical work and leadership responsibilities:
- Provide outpatient care for forensic psychiatric patients with complex treatment pathways.
- Co-manage the outpatient clinic alongside an experienced head nurse.
- Collaborate with senior consultants across regional forensic psychiatry to optimise treatment before discharge and to strategize future hospitalisations.
- Participate in cross-disciplinary initiatives with general psychiatry teams throughout the region to create cohesive care pathways for patients.
Additionally, you’ll be involved in:- Supporting dual-diagnosis patients with addiction treatment, a key element in reducing re-offending risks.
- Pioneering innovative care solutions, such as electronic home monitoring for patients on antipsychotic depot injections—an initiative that makes our clinic the first of its kind in Denmark.

Your QualificationsWe are seeking candidates with:
- Forensic psychiatric expertise, including experience in the Security Department or forensic psychiatric wards, is an advantage but not required.
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration, both internally and with external partners.
- A medical specialist recognition in Psychiatry, preferably from an EU country due to the Danish authorisation process.
