Creative and Collaborative Mechanical Engineer

Our construction department Emission design, EGR & scavenge air systems is looking for a Mechanical Engineer who has an interest in modular design of large welded constructions and is firmly grounded in mechanical engineering.

You will play an important role in:

As our new Mechanical Engineer you will work with technology that requires high reliability in mechanics and dynamics for large two-stroke engines. You construct and optimize existing engine components and generate documentation as well as you will participate in defining modular design architecture and standardization.

In addition, you will support our engine builders with exciting production challenges and thus contribute to MAN’s development of work methods within our organization. Cooperation and communication with our manufacturers of engine components will be another vital aspect of your work. Seeing that you will be involved with development projects, why you might travel a few days each year.

In this role, you will:

• Design and development of scavenge air and EGR systems using CAD and calculations tools.
• Ensuring that the design is compliant with the requirement specification and rules, and carry it through design review across, R&D and Engineering.
• Conducting necessary documentation and communication in relation to each design task.
• Troubleshoot on design issues on existing design together with other departments.
• Participating in defining modular design architecture and standardization.
• Organizing and participating in meetings with colleagues and external partners, including preparation of presentation material.

We imagine that you:

• Are educated as a Mechanical Engineer, either with a Bachelor or Master degree.
• Have experience with 3D CAD software (we use Siemens NX) and maybe FEM and/or CFD software.
• Practical construction experience and basis knowledge to Python or similar programing would be an advantage
• Are being creative and bring new ideas and perspectives to the way we work.
• Have solid English skills both oral and written are required. It is preferable that you also understand Danish on a reasonable level, but not a requirement.

As a person, you have a desire and knowledge to translate theory into practical design, both in corporation with co-workers and individually. Ideally, you have some experience with project orientated work and/or project management/coordination as well as knowledge to Microsoft Office at a beginners level.

You will be trained in technical areas that are necessary for managing the tasks and responsibilities in the department. The training will be organized in accordance with specific needs depending on your profile.

Welcome to department for Emission design, EGR & scavenge air systems

You will join a team of 13 designers with a brought variety of backgrounds. The department consists of engineers and technicians who work both individually and in cross-functional teams with a wide range of competencies. The area of responsibility covers the development and design of scavenge air systems, application of turbocharger as well as EGR for emission reduction. The department is involved in development projects across the entire organization including travel to engine builders and ships in connection with develop, follow-up and test of new designs.

We have an open culture and thrive on challenges and at times at a fast pace. We support each other in an environment, where we take united responsibility for our engine designs long after they have left the drawing board and entered service. In discussions, the ceiling is high, and ideas can be lifted and analyzed together in a positive and constructive atmosphere.
