Join and share our vision

Do you like complex power systems engineering development, stakeholder management and driving tool development towards value creation? Are you open-minded and enjoy working in a diverse and international team? And are you eager to be part of something new and meaningful?

Join Nordic RCC, a growing company with a pivotal role in the clean energy transition and with the vision to enable the power systems of the future.

The Nordic Regional Coordination Center (RCC) based in Copenhagen provides key services to the four Nordic Transmission System Operators (TSO), unlocking their potential to optimize operations across borders. We are one of the only 6 coordination centers mandated by the European Union to foster regional coordination and to bridge TSOs in the continent.

You will be dealing with complex power engineering problems using a data-driven mindset in a diverse, inclusive and truly inspiring working environment.

Your responsibilities

You will be joining the Security Analysis team delivering operationally critical processes that safeguard the security of power systems in the Nordic region. Your role will be to further develop our capability to analyse power systems with increasingly high shares of renewable energy sources and issue recommendations based on decision-making support tools. You will be central in the design of applications relying on power system analysis, operations research and advanced analytics. In short, you can expect to:

  • Learn about the Coordinated Security Analysis methodology and become an expert in one of our key services.
  • Have a close and proactive collaboration with Nordic TSOs to shape the service we provide according to their needs and maximise the socio-economic value.
  • Prototype, develop and maintain operational tools in close cooperation with IT software developers and system architects.
  • Identify root-causes for anomalies in numerical results, large-scale grid models and input data.
  • Join ENTSOE working groups with experts from other RCCs and TSOs from all over Europe.

We are looking for

We are a growing and agile company where multidisciplinary skills are necessary to thrive. We encourage you to apply even if you cover only a part of the following, provided you have at least 3 years of experience:

  • Solid background in electrical and power system engineering industry or research, best if related to transmission system aspects, e.g. power flow studies, voltage regulation, security-constrained unit commitment, static and dynamic stability.
  • Proficiency in Python or other programming languages supporting data analysis and visualization for large datasets, e.g. Julia, Rust, Go. Additionally, you are familiar with version control workflow and best practices in a collaborative setup.
  • Good understanding of European and Nordic electricity markets, e.g. day-ahead, intraday, balancing and ancillary services.
  • Experience with linear and non-linear numerical optimization, machine learning and statistical methods, preferably applied to decision-making in power systems.
  • Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English.

We offer

You can look forward to joining a team of highly motivated, skilled and compassionate people. Our values of fellowship, curiosity, respect, and transparency have been defined by all employees. They identify how we behave and shape the way we work together, and we expect you to see yourself in them. We work as a not-for-profit company for the benefit of society. As an employee at Nordic RCC, you can expect:

  • Flexible workplace and working hours to ensure best work-life balance
  • Opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth
  • An informal, international and diverse working environment with an array of social events.

Your daily workplace will be in our newly furnished office premises in Copenhagen Towers, Ørestad. The position involves some travel in Europe to meet stakeholders and colleagues from other RCCs and Nordic TSOs.

Application deadline and contact information

We encourage you to apply online as soon as possible by submitting your CV and motivational letter in English no later than 15th of September 2024. If you have any questions, please contact Nicola Viafora, Team Lead, Security Analysis, tel. +4552618502, available from the 26th of August.

Note that the job requires security clearance which will be facilitated by Nordic RCC.
