Data Engineer, Risk Management

Are you a detail-oriented, curious, and data-driven problem solver who wants to build and maintain a data platform, code library and models for energy market risk management reporting and analytics? Then you might be the one we are looking for.

In this role you will get the chance to take a leading role in building- and maintaining our next generation market risk management platform. You will development robust production solutions for integrating-, transforming- and consolidating trade data from our energy trading-, sales- and origination business, ensuring integrity of data used in financial- and risk management models and reporting, while cooperating closely with people and teams across the business, Finance and IT.

Our tech stack currently includes Python, MS SQL databases and Microsoft Azure cloud ecosystem.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

We are looking to hire a skilled Data Engineer to join our Risk Management team in Aarhus or Søborg.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Build and maintain our consolidated trade and risk data platform
• Design and optimize the use of our data platform based on business- and risk management needs
• Advocate for software architecture patterns in the trading-, risk and finance domain
• Advocate for efficient data processing, modern data integration, and solid data modelling
• Enhance our data infrastructure to improve the reliability and computational efficiency of our data platform
• Build and maintain trading performance (PnL)- and risk models such as VaR, stressed VaR, exposure overview etc.
• Participate in team rituals inspired by agile methods (stand-up, planning, and retrospective)

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

To be the right candidate for this position, we expect you to have an educational background within computer science, software engineering – or fields such as mathematics or finance with a relevant career focus on IT development. We expect a bachelor's degree as a minimum.

It is a big advantage if you:

• have at least three years of relevant work experience working with trade data – either from energy trading or from the financial industry
• are a highly skilled Python developer and can take a leading role in driving best (or “good enough”) practices in the team
• have a solid understanding of Azure DevOps, including Pipelines, code organization, testing and deployment
• have at least some experience with relational database systems and data warehouses
• are well-versed in Agile development principles and have experience with applying them in daily work

You are eager to use your knowledge and experience on designing and implementing solutions together with the team and are proactive and critical in how data is mined, stored and utilized.

As a person you are proactive with a quality oriented and structured approach to problem solving. You are not afraid to contribute to continuous improvements in the team’s way of working. You have an open and curious mindset and are comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment where you will juggle several tasks simultaneously. You possess good communication skills and are a dependable and knowledge-sharing-team-player, who sees the team’s success as your own success. You should enjoy both working in teams but also be good at working on individual tasks.
