As the Department Manager for the Edge Platform team, you’ll be at the helm of digitalizing ship engines, propelling us toward reduced greenhouse emissions.

Your role is multifaceted:

• Leadership: You’ll guide a dedicated team of Platform Engineers, steering their efforts toward innovation and excellence.
• Visionary: Shape our future edge platform, envisioning solutions that utilize technology, increases efficiency, and lowers the environmental footprint.

As the Department Manager for the Edge Platform, you will be:

Owning the Software Platform: You’ll lead the Edge Platform team, overseeing the software platform deployed across more than 15,000 vessels. This platform is responsible for critical aspects such as cybersecurity, updatability, and scalability. The platform serves as the hub for datalogging, data display, and engine-specific applications.

You will work with:

1. Hybrid Platform: Currently, the platform operates on both Windows and Linux. However, the strategic direction is clear: Linux will be the platform of the future.
2. Engine Control System: The Engine Control system comprises 3-4 PCs, some of which are designed in-house by our Embedded Hardware department.
   Your team plays a crucial role in shaping this system and its architecture.
3. “The Digital Engine”: Your team is laying the groundwork for “The Digital Engine.” This initiative enables remote updates for electronic devices and software, ensuring compliance with ever-evolving cybersecurity standards.
4. Global Collaboration: You’ll collaborate closely with Cyber Security testers in Aurangabad, India, and work alongside the Automation and Control functions in Copenhagen with approximately 100 engineers dedicated to building our Engine Control System.
5. Specific Responsibilities:
   • Electronic Device Management: Lead the project for Over-The-Air (OTA) updates in the marine industry.
   • Edge Platform Development: Drive the development of our Edge platform, focusing on scalability and cybersecurity. This includes both hardware configuration and software components.
   • Customer and Licensee Collaboration: Engage with our global customers and licensees.
   • End-to-End Product Development: Be part of the entire product lifecycle—from architectural design to development and operational support.
   • Team Leadership: Inspire and guide a team of highly skilled and enthusiastic software developers.

We imagine that you:
As a passionate team member, you thrive on bringing innovative solutions to the maritime industry. Your leadership skills have been obtained through working closely with software developers, whether as a Manager or a Product Owner.
Collaboration across departments and products energizes you, and you’re well-versed in methodologies like Agile, SAFe or similiar.

Professionally, your background lies in software development, electronics, or engineering. Additionally, you possess experience in an industry dealing with products installed on remote devices would be advantageous.

As Head of Edge Platform, you will be part of our Automation Platform Two Stroke team.

In this position, you will be working closely with cross-organizational teams in IT, engineering, and R&D. The automation department is a key business area for delivering future clean energy solutions to the global fleet of merchant vessels.
As part of MAN Energy Solutions, you will be servicing international customers and suppliers within the marine industry and be in contact with these about our products.

4. Automation Platform Two Stroke Team: You’ll be part of the Automation Platform Two Stroke team, a force of over 50 dedicated engineers. Who is  an integrated part of R&D.
5. Global Impact: As part of MAN Energy Solutions, your reach extends to international customers and suppliers within the marine industry. You’ll engage with them, championing our cutting-edge products.
