Here is your chance to join Weibel in a position as Digital Hardware Engineer in our Antenna group. Due to increasing demands for our products, we are looking for a new colleague for a position as a Digital Engineer to strengthen our Antenna group. Our antenna systems are designed, tested and produced in-house at our headquarter in Allerød. The active antenna arrays contain both RF, analog, power and digital control electronics, which gives you an exciting opportunity to collaborate closely with colleagues having different fields of expertise and specializations.
 

Design and verification of digital hardware including microcontrollers

You will be part of the team that designs and verifies electronics components going into our tracking radars. The group designs almost all electronic elements of the radar antennas including radiating elements, mixers, LNAs, HPAs, PSUs and digital circuits. We are also key players in our certification work, and we collaborate with our production team on module tests, system verification and debugging. You will work with system debugging and testing while also having design tasks on our roadmap projects.

Your main responsibility includes the following tasks:

• Independently find and implement solutions required to meet new functionalities in new and existing control boards – with support from our colleagues in systems engineering
• Develop and maintain current and next-generation medium bandwidth, high-resolution ADC boards
• Develop and maintain current and next-generation control boards for antenna modules – including microcontrollers, FPGAs, memory subsystems and built-in diagnostics
• Design and verify hardware timing system with picosecond precision across the antenna array
• Test and verify performance of the developed solutions – both on the board level, the module level and the full radar level
• Interface with RF/analog and mechanical engineers to find the best cross-functional solutions and trade-offs

Other responsibilities and tasks will be:

• Take part in the development of our next generation radar platform architecture
• Provide our production and customers with updated documentation
• Participate in assembly, test and evaluation of prototypes of designs as well as DFM reviews with our large in-house production team

About you

We are looking for an experienced colleague ideally with +8 years of experience from a similar role. You can get up to speed quickly with the immediate design, debugging and compliance tasks while learning the design trade-offs relevant to Weibel radars. Hands-on experience with debugging in a live environment is a significant advantage. The job requires you to be detailed and structured in your work, while maintaining an overview of the system and deadlines.

Your professional CV includes:

• A university degree preferably within electrical engineering
• Several years of experience in design of digital and/or mixed-signal PCBs from concept over schematics to layout and verification.
• Experience with designs using ARM microcontrollers and FPGAs
• It is an advantage if you have experience with the CAD/CAE tools in use by Weibel e.g. Cadence OrCAD / Allegro.
• Preferably experience with CE approval of new products

The Antenna group consists of more than 40 engineers spanning from a few years to 30+ years of experience- The group is cross-functional and consists of architects, RF, analog and digital hardware engineers and mechanical designers. We have created it in this way, because we believe that bringing people with different competences together early in the design process will generate the best solutions.
