Danish Technological Institute in Taastrup is looking for someone with experience in QA, standardised tests, and the biodegradability of materials. You will be joining our small team, which has great motivation and drive to promote the green transition across the globe.

Laboratory Work, Standardised Tests, and Customer Interaction
In our daily work, we focus on testing the biodegradability and compostability of bio-based materials, such as bioplastics, developing new biopolymers, and testing their properties to identify potential applications for the materials.

As a colleague in our team, you will play a central role in performing standardised and accredited tests, utilising your knowledge of biodegradability, biopolymers, bio-based materials, and material science. It is important that you enjoy establishing new standards in our laboratory and facilitating operations for delivering these as a service to our customers.
The job includes a variety of daily tasks, so you should thrive in coordinating and executing tasks ranging from setting up and managing daily operations to reporting in a newly established laboratory.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Coordination and administration of the laboratory: maintenance and calibration of equipment
  • Practical laboratory work: method development, such as creating protocols, establishing new standards, conducting standardised tests on laboratory and pilot scales, performing calculations, and generating reports
  • Customer interaction: both proactive and responsive communication with customers

Additionally, we expect that within one year, you will have contributed to the complete establishment and operation of a newly accredited laboratory.

Scientific Background with Experience in Laboratory Work and Coordination
We imagine that you hold a bachelor's or master's degree in biopolymers, microbiology, biotechnology, or chemistry. Perhaps you have worked in the field for a few years and have experience with QA and standards such as ISO.
To thrive in the role, it is crucial that you are motivated to solve technical challenges that may arise on a daily basis. For example, this could involve setting up new equipment in our laboratory, adapting methods to meet new standards, or streamlining work procedures and data collection.

In this role, you will also be expected to communicate and collaborate with customers and partners in both Denmark and abroad. Therefore, it is essential that you are fluent in English, both written and spoken, and familiarity with Danish is an advantage.

You will become part of a small team where collaboration and professional sparring are highly prioritized. We offer exciting opportunities for professional development, including participation in conferences and trade fairs. You should anticipate approximately 10 days of travel annually, both domestically and internationally.

You will become part of the Danish Technological Institute
You will join the Bioresources Center, which consists of 24 dedicated, skilled, and committed colleagues working with industrial bioeconomy, innovative solutions, and the green transition. We have an informal work environment, providing an excellent foundation for professional and personal development, as well as access to a valuable network both in Denmark and internationally. The Bioresources Center is part of the Food and Production Division at the Danish Technological Institute. Our focus is on leveraging the latest knowledge and transforming it into solutions that create value for our customers. We turn research into business through knowledge-based consulting, technological services, and innovation in the fields of environment, plants, and food.

Our customers include packaging manufacturers, various bioplastic product owners, food, feed, and ingredient companies, technology suppliers, agriculture, and public-sector clients.
