Fixed-Term Assistant Professorships in Energy Economics at Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure (CSEI)

Copenhagen Business School invites applications for fixed-term positions as Assistant Professor in Energy Economics at CSEI at the Department of Economics.

The Department of Economics provides research, teaching and knowledge transfer within the core areas of economics, i.e. microeconomics, macroeconomics, and quantitative methods. The Department is especially active in business-related, applied economic research, and comprises four research centres: Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure (CSEI), Centre for Innovation (CFI), and Pension Research Centre (PeRCent). In terms of research activities, the positions will be attached to and funded by CSEI.

The positions as fixed-term Assistant Professor involve research and teaching. The research is funded by – and must contribute to – the research at CSEI.

The candidates will be expected to be physically present on campus on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of CSEI.  

CSEI research focus and responsibilities

The Assistant Professors are expected to strengthen and contribute to the development, external funding, and promotion of research areas of CSEI. Much of our research is focused on European energy issues, while we also have a global research outlook. The research priorities and strategy of CSEI are decided by the Director of the centre. The focus areas of our research include, but are not limited to, the following areas of applied energy economics, regulation, and policy research:

  • Energy infrastructure economics and finance
  • Regulation of energy networks
  • Energy market design
  • The Green Deal and energy transition
  • Energy system integration, sector coupling, and renewable energy integration
  • Energy technology and innovation analysis, e.g., power-to-X, hydrogen, and low carbon technologies
  • Energy business models
  • Energy in developing countries

CBS and departmental responsibilities 

  • Teaching and associated examination in CBS programs 
  • Individual and group-based research at high international standards 
  • Promoting CBS’s academic reputation 
  • Initiating, fund raising and coordinating research projects 
  • Promoting the teaching and research capabilities of Copenhagen Business School within the core area of Energy Economics 
  • Contributing to administrative responsibilities of the Department and CBS-wide tasks
  • Communicating findings to the public in general and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular, including participating in the public debate. 
  • Research, including responsibility for the academic development of the relevant discipline 
  • Publishing, scientific communication and research-based teaching 
  • Active participation in research activities, such as research seminars, workshops and conferences 

Qualifications 

  • Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degrees in energy economics and relevant fields
  • Documented research track record at international level, including publications in recognized journals in the field
  • Documented experience of developing research grant proposals and managing research projects
  • Documented pedagogical qualifications or other material for the evaluation of the pedagogical level 
  • The applicant must be proficient in English (written and spoken)

  6. Complete, numbered list of publications (indicating titles, co-authors, page numbers and year), with an * marking of the publications to be considered for the review. A maximum of 5 academic works (journal papers, book chapters, books) published or forthcoming are allowed
  7. Copies of the academic works to be considered during the review. Only publications written in English or one of the Scandinavian languages will be considered
  8. Documentation of pedagogical qualifications or related material
