Qtechnology are a team of highly passionate people working to change the vision industry. The team, currently contains twelve employees, and operates within a larger corporate structure under Newtec Group, providing the stability and resources of a well-established organization while maintaining the innovative spirit of a startup.

Introduction to the position

As a Hardware Engineer at Qtechnology, you will play a key role in developing next-generation hyperspectral camera technology. One of the exciting aspects of this role is working with their new generation of hyperspectral cameras, which are designed to detect materials in images using AI-powered analysis. This is a rapidly growing field with significant market potential, making this an exciting time to join QTechnology.

Your responsibilities will include designing and optimizing PCB layouts, developing high-performance circuits, and collaborating closely with software and FPGA teams to ensure seamless integration.

You will have the freedom to influence technical decisions and contribute to an innovative, high-paced environment where your expertise will help shape the future of imaging technology. You will also work with high-end image sensors, requiring precision circuit board development and FPGA integration. This involves designing circuit boards that interface with Xilinx-based FPGA platforms, and you may also contribute to high-performance FPGA projects, including work on the Versal Gen 2 FPGA, which is one of the most advanced FPGA platforms available today.

Additionally, you will play a key role in bridging the gap between development and production, ensuring that our technical solutions are manufacturable and scalable. Your work will involve board bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting, supporting both in-house production and external manufacturing partners.

This position offers significant freedom and responsibility, allowing you to independently drive your tasks while growing professionally in a rapidly evolving industry.

As a Hardware Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:

• Design and development of digital electronics, including FPGA, CPU, GPU and AI-based circuits.
• PCB layout, optimization, production files generation (BOM, Gerber, etc.) and interaction with PCB+EMS factories for production.
• Development of test procedures for PCBA and system functional tests.
• Technical support for production and optimization of production testing.
• Collaboration with mechanical, FPGA and software teams to ensure integration between mechanics, hardware and software.
• Quality assurance of hardware design and component selection.

Requirements

We expect you to have most of the following competences:

• Able to showcase a portfolio of successful designs that have progressed from concept to final product with minimal PCB revisions.
• Capable of working independently and completing designs, including board bring-up and debugging.
• Able to communicate clearly in English with our suppliers and partners.
• At least 2 years of experience with Altium Designer, including:
• Schematic design, component library creation, and PCB footprint development.
• Design of complex PCBs (stacked/staggered micro-vias, buried vias, flex-rigid).
• Experience with circuit board debugging, even on designs that are not your own.
• Proficient in using an oscilloscope.
• Experience with Xilinx/Altera FPGA PCB design.
• Knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity, either through courses or personal interest.

An advantage, but not a requirement:

• Experience with DDR3-4-5 memory fly-by design, including the ability to simulate DDRx memory designs (using Keysight ADS) and implement them in Altium.
• Familiarity with PC architecture, including PCIe bus, USB-C, DisplayPort, and Ethernet networks.
• Familiarity with Linux from a user perspective, or even better, knowledge of Linux kernel source code architecture.
• Experience with microcontroller programming in C.
• VHDL programming and experience with AMD/Xilinx FPGA and Vivado.
• Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP).
• Experience with hardware design for AMD or Intel x86 CPU motherboards.
