You’ll will play an important role in

• Leading and managing a team of 10 mechanical engineers specializing in testing hydraulic prototypes. These tests are conducted on dedicated rigs at both the Research Centre in Copenhagen and on production engines at our licensees in Asia, including in-service testing onboard ships.
• Overseeing the establishment of physical, full-scale test rigs for hydraulic components and systems. This includes exhaust valve actuation and injection systems for various fuels offered in our two-stroke marine engine programme (MGO, HFO, LNG, LPG, alcohols, ammonia).
• Ensuring that the testing activities of the group provide value to the organization and that results are effectively communicated. This applies to both technology development and identifying root causes of failures.
• Fostering professional growth and development for every team member.
• Expect 20-40 travel days per year, primarily to our licensees in Japan and South Korea.
• The Danish headquarter of MAN Energy Solutions will move office, production, and testing facilities within 5 years, so building a new hydraulic and injection test center from scratch will be part of your responsibility.

• Have leadership experience, preferably from the shipping or industrial sector and related to physical testing of mechanical or mechatronic systems.
• See planning as an essential part of the job, both technically and in terms of managing test activities.
• Have international experience, ideally involving collaboration with partners in China, South Korea, and/or Japan.
• Are motivated for leading people through communication, team building, and with a focus on developing a growth mindset.
• Own organizational abilities.

You will join the management team of the function area Hydraulics and Injection Development of two-stroke R&D. We are responsible of developing fuel injection/admission concepts, designing prototype fuel equipment, hydraulic systems and components. We analyze structural and thermal loads on our components, run simulations of both injection and combustion, and conduct tests on both test rigs and real engines to validate new concepts and designs.
