This role is based in Denmark or Bangalore, India but we are open to hiring in a virtual hub with some travel requirements to office hubs.
The position
As Head of Platform Orchestration, you will lead the execution of Novo Nordisk’s dual-cloud strategy, integrating AWS and Azure to deliver scalable, efficient, and secure data and AI solu-tions. Working at the forefront of technology, you will align platform initiatives with business ob-jectives, ensuring innovation and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead a global team of engineers, fostering collaboration and driving innovation.
• Lead the orchestration of data and AI platform capabilities to support pharmaceutical R&D, clinical, production, and commercial priorities.
• Deploy and optimize data platforms capabilities and user patterns using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as FDA, GDPR, and HIPAA, and embed strong governance frameworks.
• Drive integration of platform components to enable seamless user experiences and pro-ductive workflows.
• Partner with global teams to deliver tailored solutions and foster collaboration across the organisation.
• Stay ahead of trends in dual-cloud architectures, AI, and analytics, implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance platform capabilities.
• Foster team development, recruitment, and leadership, maintaining an inspiring and psy-chologically safe work environment.
Qualifications
To succeed in the role, we imagine you meet most of the following:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or re-lated disciplines. PhD or MBA is a plus.
• Extensive experience (5-10+ years) in data engineering, platform management, or related roles, with at least 3 years in leadership positions within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
• Solid knowledge of AWS and Azure, with proven experience implementing and managing dual-cloud strategies
• Hands on Git Hub platform experience for CI / CD in enterprise-wide projects.
• Good understanding both Azure and AWS cloud providers architecture patterns, security models, network configuration.
• Familiar with setting up and managing Kubernetes clusters, microservice architecture de-ployed on Docker. Familiar with Service Now and similar software for incident manage-ment,
• Hands-on expertise with Terraform for infrastructure as code and Backstage for enhanc-ing the developer experience.
• Strong proficiency in Databricks, including its use for data engineering, machine learning, and advanced analytics.
• Relevant certification in cloud engineering, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect Expert or similar.
• Solid understanding of pharmaceutical data ecosystems, including clinical trial data, real-world evidence, and genomics data.
• Experience of pharmaceutical data ecosystems and regulatory requirements such as FDA CFR Part 11, GxP, GDPR, and HIPAA is an advantage.

The Global Data & AI Platform Engineering department at Novo Nordisk is a newly established and strategically integral team dedicated to building and enabling the Novo Nordisk Global Data & AI platform. This platform is designed to serve and scale all data, AI, and analytics use cases across the organization. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and fostering collaboration across multiple disciplines, the department drives the development, governance, and optimiza-tion of scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that align with Novo Nordisk’s pharmaceutical R&D, clinical, production, and commercial priorities.
