Industrial Postdoc for Pain Biomarkers in Osteoarthritis

The position
You will be part of the ImmunoScience department of 22 highly skilled and self-motivated scientists and technicians. We develop blood-based biomarkers and implement them at every stage of drug development. This includes pharmacodynamic studies, trial enrichment, monitoring of disease progression, and treatment response evaluation in rheumatic diseases. 

As a Postdoctoral fellow in this 3-year industrial position, you will:

• Drive pain biomarker research: Plan and execute experiments to identify novel pain biomarker targets. Develop and implement biomarker assays to measure clinical and pre-clinical samples, working both independently and collaboratively with your colleagues. Lead research efforts focused on pain biomarkers to enhance the understanding of pain mechanisms in Osteoarthritis (OA), supporting OA drug development.
• Promote partnerships between industry and academia: Build collaborations with external stakeholders, such as the grant agency (Innovation Fund), universities (particularly the University of Copenhagen, the academic partner in this project), pharmaceutical companies, and key opinion leaders.
• Explore commercial potential: Drive projects that achieve scientific milestones while demonstrating the potential for real-world application and commercialization.
• Shape the future of Osteoarthritis care: Contribute to high-impact science papers and present your work at international conferences.
• Mentor and inspire: Guide and supervise PhD/MSc students and laboratory technicians.

The candidate
As the ideal candidate you have:

• A PhD in biology, biomedicine, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or a related field, awarded within the last 5 years.
• Basic statistical knowledge.
• Experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomics (which will be carried out at the University of Copenhagen), biomarkers, and clinical research would be a plus.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral, since you will be expected to publish your results and will be collaborating with many international colleagues. 
• You thrive with working independently with your project but are good at involving relevant colleagues across Nordic Bioscience and our collaborators at KU.
