Industry Master: Combustion Chamber Parts

Design and Analysis of Large Marine Engines

Do you want to develop the next generation of combustion chamber parts for the biggest engines in the world running on environmentally friendly fuels?

Despite over a century of development, many components in a large marine engine can be further improved. To enhance these components, we at MAN Energy Solutions develop our own methods, constantly pushing the boundaries for how we can improve the engines. Many methods are based upon various automation schemes for consistency and speed in development and keeping track of the progress.

We are seeking a student worker who enjoys structural development using various CAE tools. The components you would work with are some of the parts that contain the combustion process and are thus subjected to both high temperatures but also highly varying mechanical stresses.

Please note that this position is specifically for individuals enrolled in an industry master’s program.

You will play an important role in:

You will play an important role in the continuous development of the combustion chamber parts, allowing the use of new more environmentally friendly processes and fuels. The work includes, but is not limited to:

• Collaborate with and support engineers in the combustion chamber group with design of the structural parts of the combustion chamber.
• Support improvement of calculation method and automatization, analytical and FEA.
• Review current component design and calculation methods, write documentation.

We imagine that you:

To fill this important role, we expect that you are/have:

• Relevant formal education in mechanical engineering.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team, depending on the task at hand.
• Some experience using CAD/CAE and some knowledge or interest in parametric design.
• Programming skill is an advantage (we use Python) but not a requirement.
• Are passionate about engineering and want to gain valuable experience.
• Fluent in English. Danish is an advantage but not a requirement.
• Drive and ability to conclude and communicate findings and an innovative mind-set.
• Interest for mechanical design taking a practical and target oriented approach

This position is specifically for individuals enrolled in an industry master’s program. The industry master is a 4-year part-time master’s degree that combines academic studies with practical work experience in the industry, allowing you to earn a salary while studying. To be eligible, you must be enrolled in a master’s program and able to work at least 25 hours per week. Working hours will be structured to align with your educational schedule.
