Position Overview
The DP Coordinator serves as the school-based IB representative, ensuring that our DP curriculum and pedagogy align with IB standards, practices, and policies. The role involves leadership, coordination, and collaboration with teachers, students, and parents to maintain and enhance the quality of the IBDP experience. This position reports to the High School Principal and is an integral member of the pedagogical leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Leadership & Coordination (60%)
- Serve as the primary liaison between the school and the IB for programme evaluation and compliance.
- Lead the implementation, review, and development of the DP curriculum, ensuring IB philosophy and standards are upheld.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to promote an inquiry-based, student-centered approach to learning.
- Ensure alignment of IB Core components: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), and Extended Essay (EE).
- Oversee DP assessments, examinations, and student progress, ensuring compliance with IB requirements.
- Lead and support DP teachers in IB professional development and curriculum planning
Educational Support & Community Engagement (40%)
- Guide students and parents on subject selection, assessment expectations, and university pathways.
- Support the admissions process for students transitioning into the DP.
- Work with the Inclusion Coordinator to ensure students with special educational needs receive necessary accommodations.
- Organize and facilitate DP parent information sessions and student workshops.
- Promote DP engagement within the school and broader IB community.
- Collaborate with Student Support Services, the College and Careers Coordinator, and the school’s leadership team.
- Oversee internal assessments and examinations, managing logistics for IB registration and results distribution.
Qualifications & Experience
- IB Diploma Programme experience is essential (teaching, coordination, or leadership).
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of IB curriculum development and assessment.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, international school environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- A Master’s degree in education or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in school accreditation and IB evaluation processes is an advantage.
