IT/OT Solutions Architect at Quantum Foundry Copenhagen

Building a next generation foundry for quantum processor manufacturing – We are looking for an IT/OT Solutions Architect to join our team to bridge our operational technology infrastructure with enterprise IT systems while supporting our diverse team of researchers, developers, and technicians.

Our mission is to establish a foundry capable of manufacturing quantum processor units using novel methods that meet the extreme requirements for purity and precision that are needed to bring Quantum Computing to scale.

Our company is part of a vibrant and growing Danish quantum ecosystem, and we collaborate closely with world-leading researchers at Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP www.nqcp.ku.dk) based at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen. The NQCP programme is designed to facilitate and drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing quantum processor technologies to solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications.  

In close collaboration with NQCP and international partners, we aim to pioneer chip-based fabrication and packaging methods for state-of-the-art quantum processors.

We are looking for an IT/OT solutions specialist who will serve as a crucial bridge between researcher requirements and broader stakeholder needs, including vendor relationships. Our ideal candidate has an architect mindset, excelling at translating fundamental requests such as 'we need this equipment on the network' into well-structured architectural frameworks. The role demands someone who can effectively align with stakeholders on future configurations, particularly in areas of infrastructure virtualization through Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) and hybrid cloud solutions.  

This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge and emerging technologies while introducing enterprise IT discipline to the production floor. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping how research requirements are transformed into robust, secure, and scalable solutions that meet both immediate operational needs and long-term strategic objectives. 

Your main responsibilities and tasks will include: 

• Overseeing IT/OT operations ensuring seamless day-to-day functionality. 

• Collaborating with researchers and engineers to understand their technical requirements and translating them into practical, secure and operable solutions. 

• Designing and implementing secure IT/OT integration strategies, ensuring seamless communication between research equipment and enterprise systems. 

• Managing Entra ID integration(s) with both IT and OT systems, ensuring proper identity management and access controls. 

• Designing and implementing secure solutions that enable researchers to access and control specialized equipment while ensuring compliance and system integrity. 

Professional and Personal Qualifications: 

Your qualifications include: 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field 

• And/or 5+ years’ experience in IT architecture, with at 3 years focusing on OT/industrial systems integration 

• Strong understanding of network security, particularly in converged IT/OT environments 

• Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure, M365 and Entra ID administration 

• Extensive experience with local Active Directory management 

• Knowledge of industrial protocols and automation systems 

You have experience and interest in hardware connectivity, industrial automation (IACS), and IT/OT frameworks like IEC-62443, NIST, and NIS2. Experience in research or academic environments is preferred but not mandatory.  

You excel at balancing operational requirements with researcher needs, demonstrating a practical and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving. Your ability to manage stakeholders ensures seamless collaboration between technical and non-technical teams. Known for your strong communication and interpersonal skills, you foster a culture of collaboration and mutual understanding within diverse work environments. You are proactive in identifying potential technical challenges, ensuring that risks are mitigated early and that IT/OT systems function smoothly to support critical research and operations.
