Junior Day-Ahead & Intraday Portfolio Manager

Join our Asset Optimization & Balancing team as a Day-Ahead & Intraday Portfolio Manager and take on the critical task of managing and optimizing our energy portfolios around the clock.

YOUR MISSION
The energy markets never sleep, and neither do we. Your mission? Master the art of timing and precision.
As a Day-Ahead & Intraday Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for managing Energi Denmark’s consumption and production in the Day-Ahead and Intraday market.
Every MWh of power our customers use or produce passes through your hands to get to the market. Your role is crucial in handling the risks associated with this process, ensuring we minimize losses and maximize gains.
In this role, your mission will be:

• Market Trading: Execute trades in the Day-Ahead and Intraday power markets, balancing supply and demand to optimize portfolio performance.
• Market Analysis: Continuously analyze market conditions, including price fluctuations, demand-supply dynamics, and regulatory changes, to inform and adjust trading strategies.
• Portfolio Optimization: Develop and implement strategies to optimize energy portfolios, ensuring they align with market conditions and minimize balancing costs.
• Collaboration: Work closely with our Quantitative Analysts, Sales Division, and Algo-Trading team to leverage data-driven insights and enhance our trading capabilities.

YOUR DAILY ROUTINE
Your day-to-day work will involve a mix of routine tasks and dynamic challenges, with a focus on market analysis, trading, and portfolio optimization. You will start your day by preparing for the Day-Ahead auction and continue with intraday market activities, always staying alert to market changes and risks.

Approximately a week a month you should expect to be on call at night and work in the weekend. 

YOUR NEW TEAM
You will be joining a team that is dedicated to optimizing our portfolios of assets, such as wind, solar, and consumption across the Nordic region and Germany. The team’s focus is on Day-Ahead and Intraday power market trading, both discretionary and algorithmic. Your insights and decisions will play a crucial role in driving the team’s success in a rapidly changing market landscape.

YOUR PROFILE
You could have an educational background in economics and finance but this is not a prerequisite. We are looking for a motivated, strategic, and resilient team player with an interest in energy markets and portfolio management. Whether you are an experienced professional or a recent graduate eager to start your career in the energy sector, we welcome your application.
To succeed in this role, your professional competencies could preferably include:

Technical Qualifications:

• An analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
• The ability to process complex data and make real-time decisions.
• Familiarity with energy or financial markets is a plus but not required.
• Experience with Python and SQL is a plus but not a prerequisite.

Personal Skills:

• Strategic thinker with a proactive, results-oriented approach.
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Resilient under pressure, with the ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player who thrives in a collaborative setting and contributes to shared goals.
