We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician (laborant) to join the Sakamoto Group at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR), University of Copenhagen to start June 1, 2025, or after agreement.
Our research The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research’s vision is to strengthen interdisciplinary research that transforms our basic understanding of the mechanisms that underlie metabolic health and disease, and to accelerate this knowledge toward new prevention and treatment strategies. Our Group and research The position is available in the Sakamoto research Group. We are a group of 13 people investigating fundamental molecular signaling mechanisms that control energy homeostasis using
in vitro and
in vivo systems/models. More information about the Group can be found at
Metabolic signaling in the Sakamoto group Job description You will be working in close collaboration with your colleague researchers to support and assist their day-to-day research projects. You will furthermore be a part of the technician community at CBMR. The job will involve both routine assignments, lab organization, assay/method optimization, development, and implementation of new protocols.
Primary tasks: - Genotyping of our 15+ active transgenic mouse strains
- Super user of Qiaxcel equipment (Qiagen)
- Ability to handle 200+ samples at the time using multiple probes/sample
- Trouble shooting and improvement of the protocol
- Assist in vivo phenotyping of mice including feeding, weighting, gavage, MRI scanning, drug tolerance tests, IV injections, bleeding, tissue collection etc.
- RNA extraction and qPCR
- Validation of antibodies, protein extraction and Western blotting
- Assist in generating and updating electronic inventory (e.g. for sample management, consumable stocks, and documents/protocols) - knowledge of Labguru (electric lab notebook system) is an advantage
- Assure safety compliance in the laboratory (GMO1 registered laboratory, e.g. generating/updating risk assessments, chemical registration and compliance using Kemibrug system)
- Contribute to general laboratory organization and maintenance such as freezer/biobank organization, unpacking deliveries, ordering, and apportioning laboratory consumables
Your Profile We are looking for an interactive and highly organized technician with the following qualifications:
- An education as Laboratory Technician (laborant)
- Experience with research in mouse models (preferably FELASA certified).
- Solid hands-on experience and documentation of laboratory work
- Documented ability to optimize processes and work flows including trouble shooting and present/implement it to your colleagues
- Ability to plan and execute laboratory work independently
- Good written and oral communication skills in Danish and English

- Excellent collaborative skills and service minded
- Solution-oriented
- Well organized (time, tasks) and ability to do proper record keeping

Terms of salary and employment The employment as Laboratory Technician is a permanent full-time position. Expected starting date is June 1, 2025, or after agreement.
Employment as Laboratory Technician (laborant) will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and OAO/HK STAT. The position is placed in salary group 3 or 4 depending on qualifications.
