In HPC & Hybrid Cloud Engineering, we enable and support the Digital Transformation of our global research organization by offering modern hybrid cloud technology platforms through Agile ways of working.

As a Lead Storage Engineer, you will be a part of the Hybrid Storage & Compute team who is responsible for developing and maintaining hybrid cloud infrastructure – on-premises and in the cloud. The team consists of 10+ highly competent and technically diverse colleagues supporting scientific research, HPC and Machine Learning. 
 

The team offers services within among others storage, hosting, monitoring, and server management. Our scientific users are situated globally, and you will therefore be working in an international environment with colleagues around the globe. What you will be doing

You and your team will deploy and support software defined storage, cloud native storage (AWS/Azure) and physical hardware in on-premises environments for HPC, Machine learning and enterprise storage in a global distributed environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in deploying, automating, optimizing and managing storage including cloud native storage (AWS FX Logic, EFS, Azure file, caching), data tiering, deployment, management automation and configuration (scripting, puppet, ansible and terraform).
 

Platforms we use include Ceph, openZFS, EFS, high performance / ML storage like Lustre .

You will help evaluate and deploy modern software defined storage such as Hammerspace, Weka, HSM and observability platforms like Starfish.

It would also be a huge plus, if you also have an interest and an ability to teach others.

We expect you to bring

• Minimum a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a similar field
• +5 years of experience in AWS or Azure and on-premises environments
• Proven experience as a Storage Engineer or similar role
• Proficiency in cloud storage solutions and performance automation tools
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Ansible)

You might even have experience/know some or all the below-listed technologies

• Serverless Computing, Network, and Security
• Python, PowerShell, Bash, and CloudWatch
