Mechanical Engineer for Decarbonization Retrofits

The R&D team is pioneering distinctive 2-Stroke technologies and innovative solutions aimed at transforming the world of sustainable seaborne trade. Our dedicated retrofit group is at the forefront, developing concepts and projects that convert ship engines to operate on eco-friendly fuels and elevate energy efficiency.

These retrofit initiatives hold a pivotal role in driving the shipping industry toward a zero-carbon future and stand as a cornerstone of MAN ES's decarbonization strategy. We are actively seeking a mechanical design engineer to join our Decarbonization Retrofits team located in Copenhagen.

You will play an important role in:
As an engineer in the retrofit team, you will:

• Work with engine design concepts for dual fuel conversions and energy efficiency solutions with assistance from R&D and engineering departments
• Ensure together with lead engineer that engine components scope, and cost inputs for retrofit project bids is submitted to the project management team
• Support Lead Design engineer to bring new concepts and ideas around engine design, component reliability, cost optimization and component standardization for retrofit projects.
• Participate in internal and external meetings and discussions to cover your area of responsibilities

We imagine that you:

• Are experienced in working with internal combustion engines in design / operations / thermodynamics
• Should have a wide understanding of combustion engines and related systems
• Should be interested in using technical knowledge to analyze system requirements and create specifications
• Like to work interdisciplinary between expertise areas with multiple stakeholders
• Knowledge of CAD / NX or similar engineering drawing systems is an advantage
• Advantage to know about marine 2-Stroke engines.
