DTU Bioengineering is seeking to employ a microfluidics specialist (AC-TAP) who will be responsible for the maintenance and operation, as well as user training of the microfluidics fabrication facility within the Protein Biophysics Research group led by Prof. Alexander Buell in the Protein Chemistry and Enzyme Technology Section at the DTU Bioengineering Department. The protein biophysics laboratory is carrying out research projects in the areas of biomedicine, food and biomaterials. In this job, you will serve as technical support in all projects that involve microfluidics. This means that you are expected to help with device design, fabrication and operation as well as data acquisition. Furthermore the training of students and other group members in all areas of microfluidics will be a central task.

The job
AS microfluidics specialist you will be in charge of the daily management and operation of the microfluidics facility in the protein biophysics laboratory and core facility. The main responsibility is to ensure that all procedures are documented and carried out to the highest possible scientific and safety standards. The goal of the work is to provide innovative and technical contributions to the design, fabrication and operation of microfluidic devices for the biophysical study of biomolecules, notably proteins. The successful candidate will also pass on the required knowledge to other group members and collaborators when required. 

Other features of the job include
Participation in ongoing scientific projects also involves participation in research meetings with internal and external (industrial) partners, including presentation of data and preparation of slides for such meetings.

The position has direct reference to the Head of the Protein Biophysics research group, Prof. Alexander K. Buell.

Specific requirements

  • Profound research experience within microfluidics with a relevant publication track record, and strong expertise in device design, fabrication and operation.
  • Experience with managing the safe operation of a microfluidics facility.
  • Strong technical, organizational, interpersonal communication and management skills, and exceptional reliability.
  • Master English in speaking and writing.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). 

The position is a full-time (37 h/week) fixed term position limited to 2 years. Starting date is March 1st 2025 or as soon as possible afterwards. The workplace is DTU Bioengineering at DTU Lyngby Campus.
