We are excited to announce that NIRAS International Consulting (NIC) is now accepting applications for the spring semester 2025. This is a unique opportunity for master's students to gain hands-on experience and contribute to meaningful projects within a leading international consultancy firm.
 

NIRAS is a leading international consultancy that oversees over 195 international development projects annually and has over 3,000 employees. These projects focus primarily on sustainable development and span across sectors such as data & digitalization, energy, environment & ecology, and infrastructure. NIRAS has offices in more than 30 countries across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. As an interdisciplinary consultancy firm, NIRAS’ projects often involve cooperation and collaboration across disciplines and areas of expertise. The internships dive into NIRAS business development, teaching interns about tender processes for clients like Danida, EU, SDC, KfW, and GIZ. You will join one of NIRAS's technical teams, assisting with efforts to secure new contracts and support ongoing projects. You will learn what goes into the successful development of a project by contributing to the analysis of project contexts (political, historical, cultural, legal, environmental) and identifying methodologies and strategies to solve complex issues, identify and recruit relevant experts, and support us in meeting legal and administrative requirements of the clients. Tasks include recruitment support, CV and reference tailoring, research, administration, translation, analysis, and communication.
 

Internships may be available with four teams at NIRAS:

1. Agriculture & Forestry: This team works on people-centric approaches and aims to balance environmental, social, and economic benefits and well-being from the use of forests, land, and other related natural resources. It promotes participatory and multipurpose management of natural resources including forests and land, which incorporates conservation of global and local biodiversity and management and protection of fragile ecosystems.

1. Fund Management and Finance: Our team that specializes in setting up grant programs and working with financial institutions for more inclusive development and to encourage sustainable growth around the world. The grant funds managed by the team are put to use in diverse projects from and diverse settings from refugee camps in the Horn of Africa to renewable energy projects in West Africa and Southeast Asia. The team also provide technical advice to financial institutions in Ukraine on how to lend to agricultural companies, supports large investment funds in delivering consultancy services to banks across the developing world on gender-smart operational practices and products, and works with investee companies of another investment fund to prevent deforestation in critical landscapes.

1. Peace & Stability, Governance & Democracy, Gender & Human Rights: This team focuses on peace and stability in conflict zones, the promotion of gender equality and human rights and improvement of the governance of sustainability goals through a strengthening of the civil society, media, institutional development and effective finance development.

1. Facilities & Framework Unit: This team focuses on the management of Facility and Framework Contracts (FWCs) in the EU. They apply integrated and innovative approaches with the aim of achieving a higher level of stable human development, equitable economic and social empowerment, and inclusive, well-governed, and climate-smart societies of the future.
    

The Internship will take place in our Copenhagen office, where you will join our international team, which includes more than 10 nationalities. The internship is anticipated to begin in February 2024 and span 4-5 months. We are flexible with the start date and length of the internship to fit your academic commitments. Our official work language is English, but it is considered an advantage if you have strong French language capabilities.
