The Hempel Foundation Coatings Science and Technology Center (CoaST) at DTU Chemical Engineering is looking for an experienced Paint Formulation Specialist to take care of our existing paint formulation expertise and tools, and to drive new formulation principles in relation to improved sustainability profiles. CoaST covers coatings technologies from raw materials, over formulation, test and characterization to production and application. In the broad perspective, the centre will support development, production and application of coatings with improved sustainability profiles over the lifetime of the coating. Areas of research include e.g. anticorrosive coatings for steel structures, blade coatings for wind turbines, intumescent coatings for passive fire protection, antifouling coatings for ships, coatings for the cement- and mineral industries, for oil and gas pipelines at high temperature and high pressure etc.
The mission of CoaST is to establish a strong research, innovation and education environment, and develop new and improved methods and technologies for the formulation, testing, characterization, production and application of coatings. A successful candidate must be able to work in a technically diverse environment and to adapt to changing requirements.

In this position, the candidate reports to the Technical Manager in CoaST and will work closely together with technicians, researchers, and other personnel inside and outside DTU Chemical Engineering to facilitate the given tasks. Some travel days may be expected.
Skills and qualifications
We are seeking an experienced paint formulator (heavy duty coatings) preferably with experiences in research and development (R&D) from the industry.
The candidate should be highly motivated and is expected to be ambitious and work in the front line within Coatings Science and Technology. You should have a strong focus on solving technical challenges, and you should be result-oriented and proactive, with good communication skills and ability to work within an international team. You enjoy working with complex topics, and you are motivated by both working individually, in teams and as project leader.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

CoaST Research Centre supports development, production and use of high performance organic coatings.
