International Media Support (IMS) is looking for a PCM officer for our ASIA Department to support our media support activities in the region with a focus on programme development and fundraising

Who we are?

International Media Support supports local independent media and media advocacy groups in countries affected by conflict, political transition and authoritarian rule. Set up in 2001, the organisation has since then worked with hundreds of local and international partners to support independent journalism, freedom of expression and the safety of journalists.

Department

In the Asia region, IMS works with partners in South and South-East Asia, incl. Afghanistan, Pakistan, Myanmar, the Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and elsewhere to further the safety of journalists and promote media reform, build institutions and professional media content. We offer you an international and dynamic work environment with dedicated colleagues from more than 30 countries.

Job summary

IMS is seeking a dedicated and ambitious programme cycle management (PCM) officer to join our team in the Asia Department. We are looking for a person who has an interest and experience in proposal writing, fundraising, MEL (monitoring, evaluation and learning) and project management.

You will be part of our headquarter team that supports programmes in seven different countries with fundraising, backstopping and quality assurance. We assist programme managers and programme staff with meeting institutional and donor standards and support throughout all steps of the programme management cycle. We have a busy and exciting fall coming up where you will be part of several strategy development efforts. We are currently working to implement a new institutional strategy by translating it into a regional and national strategies and activities. Furthermore, there appears to be promising opportunities for new projects in the region that will require further assessment and strategizing. Finally, we are also looking into organizing our first ever regional gathering of programmes and staff in the Asia region in November.

We are looking for someone who can quickly adapt and adjust to a rapidly changing environment, someone with high work ethics and someone with an interest to learn more about the field of media development. You do not necessarily have to have a lot of experience from the development field or the specific field of media development, but it is a prerequisite to have strong analytical skills and writing abilities.

You will report to the Head of the Asia Advisory team, Emilie Lehmann-Jacobsen, and work closely with our country offices in Asia.

The PCM officer is expected to do occasionally travels to programme countries – particularly as part of programme development efforts.

Key functions and key responsibilities

  • Support and occasionally lead fundraising efforts in close collaboration with our Head of Asia Advisory team and programme managers;
  • Support strategy development efforts and assist with monitoring the implementation of the new IMS institutional strategy and the IMS Asia strategy;
  • On a need’s basis, support programme managers with the coordination and production of narrative reports for donors;
  • Travel occasionally to programme countries to assist Programme Managers and other in-country team – particular in relation to programme development efforts and events
  • Liaise with HQ and IMS country programme teams/partners to ensure proper coordination in all aspects of Programme Cycle Management in close coordination with programme managers;
  • Occasionally project manage and coordinate events together with our programme manager(s);
  • Financial and administration tasks as well as simple bookkeeping is also expected to be part of the job.

Qualifications

  • Relevant educational background in e.g. social sciences, international development, global studies, media studies with 1-3 years of relevant experience;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English at a business level is a prerequisite;
  • Knowledge and experience of Programme Cycle Management is an asset;
  • Experience from working in Asia is considered an advantage;
  • Experience working in the NGO sector with international donors compiling narrative reports and adhering to donor guidelines (incl. the EU) is an asset.

  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet targets and deadlines;
  • Ability to react quickly to changing priorities;
  • Strong attention to order and detail.

Duration and location

This is an open-ended, full-time position for 37 hours/week, Duty station: IMS headquarters, Copenhagen, Denmark. Starting date: As soon as possible.

Organisation 

We offer a flexible workplace policy in the center of Copenhagen. You will report to the Head of the Asia Advisory Team, and work closely with our programme managers in Asia and our headquarter in Copenhagen.
