Title:PhD position in insect production
Research area and project description:We seek a PhD student in the group for the insect production at the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Aarhus University, Viborg Campus.
The position involves research based tasks for the ministry focused on risk assessment of substrates of interest to assist in political decisions. Work will furthermore involve developing methods for measuring digestibility of substrates in black soldier flies, and assessing digital measurement methods of e.g. metabolism as production surveillance tools in collaboration with the insect production industry.
The candidate is expected to have a background in applied entomology. Practical experience from previous laboratory work on insects used for food and feed is preferable.
The position is for three years starting in early 2025.

Qualifications and specific competences:Applicants must have a relevant Master’s degree (120 ECTS) in biology, entomology or equivalent.
