Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant PhD scholarship in climate law at CBS LAW at the Department of Business Humanities and Law.

The expected start date is 1 September 2025.

CBS LAW is a unique law unit in Danish and international university environment. It differentiates from other universities by its interdisciplinary approach in research and education of relevance for businesses. It provides unique research relevant for the Danish, European, and international business community, public sector, and society in general and engages in research firmly grounded in business and societal problems. Our perspective is both Nordic, EU and global and is based not only on traditional law disciplines but also on a unique interface between law, management, entrepreneurship, economics, and policymaking.

CBS LAW is a unit under the Department of Business Humanities and Law (BHL) where there are two other units: Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership; and Governance, Culture and Learning. The three units are united by an overriding concern for the organization of the human within its multiple environments: work, technology, nature, economy, civil association, the state, the law, and corporation.

PhD Scholarship in climate law

The central aim of this PhD scholarship is to advance our understanding of recent developments in climate law. It can, for example, concern climate law and policies with tort law (damages) in relation to liability for corporate negligence, the right to prevent damage, and the potential for punitive damages.

These focus areas are suggestive, and applications that address other focus areas within the theme of climate law, and within the scope of the CBS LAW, will also be considered.
