We are seeking a motivated PhD student with a passion for bioinformatics and carbohydrate chemistry. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop and apply bioinformatics tools to predict the functional specificity of Carbohydrate Active Enzymes (CAZymes) and proteases. The overall goal is to enhance our understanding of seed carbohydrate content and composition, and to identify key enzymes responsible for variations in protein bioavailability in faba beans. The project is a part of “N2CROP - Legume innovation for future agri-food systems”.
About the Project
The N2CROP project aims to develop legumes that can serve as nitrogen engines for agriculture, enhancing nitrogen fixation and prioritizing bioavailable seed protein and plant growth. This will help reduce the use of artificial fertilizers and improve agricultural sustainability. The project is a collaboration between Aarhus University, DTU, University of Copenhagen, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and La Trobe University.
Responsibilities and qualifications
You will be responsible for predicting the functional specificity of Carbohydrate Active Enzymes (CAZymes) and proteases using bioinformatics tools based on transcriptomic data of faba beans. This includes:
Required qualifications:
You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.
Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU's rules for the PhD education
