Roles and responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be required to, with the guidance of the Head of Foreign and Security Policy:
Drive forward engagement on a range of policy areas including but not limited to economic policy and economic security, energy security, foreign policy and international relations, counter-terrorism and national security.
Use their understanding of Danish language, culture and society to proactively research and report relevant developments in Denmark, proposing ideas for joint activity or engagement.
Devise and deliver events and projects such as public lectures, workshops, expert visits that support achievement of objectives in key areas
Formulate and deliver impactful visits of UK government ministers and UK delegations to Denmark
Take a networked approach to your work engaging inclusively with Political Section and with relevant members of other Embassy teams to deliver across Embassy objectives
Identify and embrace opportunities to deliver joint work with colleagues covering similar portfolios in the British Embassy network in the Nordics and Baltics, and wider Europe, adding value through co-ordinated delivery and reporting
Play an active role in the life of the Embassy by contributing time to activities that enrich the Embassy community, whether learning and development, delivering social events or volunteering for a committee.
Be willing to flex and take on different responsibilities and policy areas as the situation demands.
Our ideal candidate demonstrates:
Fluency in English and Danish is a pre-requisite, (minimum of a C2/C1 according to the CEFR*);
Minimum of a Bachelors level degree Economics or Economics related university qualification;
Minimum of 3 years experience within an Economics related role or other relevant work experience;
Deep understanding of Danish politics and society;
Excellent communications skills, coupled with strong writing skills.
Ideally you may also have:
Experience of working in a government or other public sector, think tank or university role;
Experience in international politics and/or diplomacy;
Experience in managing diverse and senior level relationships.
What we offer:
35 -hours working week with a focus on work-life balance,this role is primarily office-based. Flexible working of 1-2 days may be possible, subject to line manager agreement.
