Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant postdoc in comparative analysis of work-life balance: citizens and policies, at Department of International Economics, Government & Business (EGB). EGB is a multidisciplinary department that conducts high-quality research in the fields of international business and political science with direct relevance to business, policymakers, and the public. Research at the department focuses on two principal focus areas Business & Government and International Business, in relation to societal challenges. These challenges include the consequences of inequality; the impact of technological change and digital transformation; the ethical dilemmas facing MNEs, regulating societal challenges, the changes brought about by emerging markets and the rise of Asia; the consequences of global shifts for public policy, and the relationship between business and democracy.

Faculty apply advanced quantitative and qualitative methods to generate systematic knowledge about business-government relations and international business relations. To learn more about the research and education of the department, please visit the departmental website.
Much of EGB’s teaching is affiliated with the BSc/MSc in International Business and Politics (IBP); the BSc/MSc in International Business (IB); and the BSc in International Business in Asia (IBA).

The postdoc is to be recruited for the project funded by the Velux Foundation entitled ‘AchievinG work-LIFE balance: citizens, policies and firm perspectives (AGILE work-life balance)’, led by PI Caroline de la Porte. You should have an interest in the overall theme of the project, which is about changing norms (citizen perspective), policies & institutions (policies), and practices (firm-level) regarding work-life balance. Regarding methodological skills, you are expected to undertake quantitative and qualitative research. Required quantitative skills are capability to work with SPSS, Stata or R. It is an advantage if you have worked with the analysis of existing survey data from existing publicly available databases, such as world-value survey and/or HETUS. Furthermore, experience with developing your own survey is also an advantage, but not a requirement. Regarding qualitative skills, experience in collecting various types of qualitative data, including via focus groups and elite interviews, and carrying out in-depth case studies is an advantage. Read the synopsis of the project here (in Danish): VELUX FONDEN fremmer viden om vores kultur, historie og samfund: Støtter grundforskning med 40 mio. kroner | Velux. The research will be undertaken in English, and the broader dissemination of the project results will be in Danish and English.
The postdoc is a non-tenured position for a 4-year period with teaching obligation of 25%. The teaching also involves a teaching qualification programme, HETEP, which is useful for future placement.

To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department.
