Department of Growth and Reproduction, Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet, Blegdamsvej, Denmark
The Department of Growth and Reproduction is inviting applications for a Postdoc position in neurodevelopment and xenobiotic exposures. The position is a 3-year position starting as soon as possible. It is primarily an experimental research position but will also involve additional tasks as supervision of master and PhD students and contributing to the group’s work on human studies. The successful applicant will become part of a project focusing on how xenobiotic exposures, as pharmaceuticals and phthalates, during fetal life results in disrupted neurodevelopment, leading to conditions such as ADHD, in collaboration with Copenhagen University, Roskilde University, Gentofte Hospital, and Harvard University (Boston, USA).
The group employs a broad palette of techniques and strategies with a central focus on experimental work and molecular cell biology. The successful applicant is expected to integrate fully with our research teams and participate in both animal and cell experimental work. Animal work will be a substantial part of the new responsibilities and may include mechanistic studies on human and rodent cells and tissues. The position requires a person who can carry out research experiments and projects independently but can also function well in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities and Tasks - Conduct animal experiments involving MR and behavioral assays.
- Conduct laboratory research experiments, primarily involving cell lines, primary cells, and human induced pluripotent stem cell work, molecular imaging, electrophysiological, and general molecular biology techniques.
- Independently carry out research projects.
- Communicate research results: presenting data at staff meetings and national and international conferences and preparing manuscripts for publication.
- Collaborate closely with technical research staff and students.
- Contribute to the general work carried out by the group as a unit, including discussions and planning of strategies and projects.
Qualifications We seek a candidate who can work independently yet is motivated by both personal and team accomplishments.
Essential qualifications: - A PhD degree in neuroscience or a related life science field (e.g. Biology, Molecular Biomedicine, Pharmacy, Biochemistry).
- Experience in conducting and managing animal experiments.
- Proficiency in in vitro work, preferably also with stem cells.
- Good English communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong experience with independent scientific research and successful completion of research projects including multiple peer-reviewed publications.
We Offer The Department of Growth and Reproduction, Copenhagen University Hospital – Rigshospitalet, is an international center for research in developmental disruption caused by xenobiotics. The Department functions as a global hub for research and training on how genetics, lifestyle, and xenobiotic factors adversely affect sex, brain, and puberty development. The Department uses a translational research approach and includes clinical and basic scientists, epidemiologists, clinicians, and public health professionals.
