Postdoc in Neuroimmunology and Cell Therapy with bioinformatic expertise

We are seeking an independent and self-driven postdoc to lead our Neuroimmunology and cell therapy projects at the Department of Molecular Medicine, SDU.

The full-time position is available in the Laboratory of Associate Professor Agnieszka Wlodarczyk from April 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter and for a period of one year with the possibility of extension for two or more years.

A strong emphasis of this position is on bioinformatics, multiomics data integration, and programming, complemented by expertise in wet lab experiments (in vitro and in vivo).

Key responsibilities

  • Design research projects and prepare grant applications to secure funding.
  • Plan, conduct, and oversee experiments that establish new assays in collaboration with other members of the group.
  • Supervise and mentor PhD students and technicians.
  • Independently develop and employ state-of-the-art bioinformatic pipelines to analyze and integrate complex multiomics datasets.
  • Perform and report quantitative bioanalysis of both human and rodent samples.
  • Plan and perform in vitro and in vivo validation experiments as needed to complement omics data.
  • Conduct collaborative research and interact with a broad network of colleagues and external partners.
  • Support research and development activities within the group and engage in teaching as required.

Expectations of qualifications

  • PhD in Life Sciences (Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Immunology, Biomedicine, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in multiomics analysis and programming, supported by scientific publications.
  • Preferably some hands-on experience with basic molecular biology techniques and rodent models.
  • Strong drive, creativity, quality mindset, and problem-solving skills, with a flair for team coordination.
  • Positive, curious, and cooperative approach to building fruitful relationships with colleagues and partners.

Qualifications not required but considered advantages

  • Background in Neuroimmunology and/or Cell Therapy
  • FELASA B Certificate, experience with rodent models
  • Experience in tissue sectioning, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, and Python-based bioimage analysis
  • Familiarity with spatial transcriptomics as well as stem cell culture and differentiation toward neurons or microglia

The Department of Molecular Medicine (IMM)

IMM’s mission is to generate new knowledge about human body function and disease mechanisms, thereby contributing to improved human health. About the Wlodarczyk Group

The Wlodarczyk Group focuses on understanding and harnessing naturally occurring protective and regenerative molecular processes to develop innovative therapies for neurological diseases such as progressive multiple sclerosis, dementia, and stroke. We employ state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques—including multiomics, cell culture, and in vivo rodent models—and have access to unique human tissue samples.

A position as postdoc is a fixed-term academic position. The position can be filled for a period of up to 4 years at the same university. Employment stops automatically at the end of the period. 

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement on salaried postdoc between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
