Department of Chemistry
Faculty of Science University of Copenhagen The postdoctoral fellow will work in the field of quantum chemistry on quantum computers focusing on the development of quantum algorithms for noisy intermediate scale quantum (NISQ) computers and the identification of use cases from chemistry. The position is within an university-industry collaboration project on optimizing chemistry applications on error-mitigated trapped ion-based quantum computers The goal is to test the developed quantum algorithms for the chosen use cases together with the error mitigation software of our industrial collaborators on trapped ion-based quantum computers of the industrial collaborator. A thorough understanding of correlated wave function quantum chemistry and quantum computing is essential, so the candidate should have a deep knowledge of the implementation of coupled cluster or multi-configurational self-consistent field (MCSCF) theory, knowledge of gate-based quantum computing on NISQ computers and be an experienced programmer. Significant research experience in quantum chemistry and quantum computing is required. Parts of the project will involve the development of Python based software, and a strong background in Python will therefore be advantageous. Proficiency in communication and teamwork skills, as well as excellent English skills, both written and spoken, are essential.
The postdoc’s duties will include research within quantum chemistry and quantum computing as well as teaching. The post may also include performance of other duties.
