Berkeley Quantum Devices Group (quantumdevices.berkeley.edu) and NQCP/Quantum Foundry are collaborating on advancing spin-photon interfaces in silicon photonics for scalable networking of quantum devices. This position is for a postdoctoral researcher who will perform work at Berkeley on advancing spin and optical coherence of color centers in silicon photonic devices.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform device fabrication, characterization and quantum optical experiments with spin-photon interfaces in silicon photonics
  • Document and communicate results of work in peer-reviewed-journal publications and in oral presentations, including participation in meetings, conferences, and reviews.
Qualifications:

  • Recent Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related field
  • Experience in experimental quantum science with solid-state devices
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with students and postdocs at Berkeley and NQCP
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.

This is a full-time, 3-year, postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds, and ongoing operational needs.

The position is open from 15 October 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Terms of employment

The employment is at University of Copenhagen, but the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LNBL) will be the research host.

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

Terms and conditions are negotiated with University of Copenhagen.

Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.

Appointment will be subject to receipt of a security clearance.
