Are you interested in chemical synthesis, and can you contribute to the development of valorising CO2? Then the Skrydstrup Group at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO), Aarhus University invites you to apply for a 2-year Post Doctoral position starting from 1 October 2025, or as soon as possible.

Job description


  • You will be contributing to the development of methodologies in organic and organometallic chemistry, which can expand the field of CO2 valorisation.
  • The position will focus on different means of chemically activating and valorising CO2 particularly with the use of cold plasma technologies.
  • You will be involved in independent and collaborative projects dealing with CO2 conversion.
  • These activities will be in close collaboration with other members of the Skrydstrup Group and the Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 Research Center (CORC).


Your profile

  • The candidate must have a PhD in synthetic chemistry or similar.
  • The candidate is required to have a strong background in organic synthesis and transition metal catalysis.
  • The candidate must be familiar with organometallic chemistry and the synthesis of organometallic complexes.
  • The candidate must be familiar with cold plasma technologies.
  • The candidate must have good communication skills and experience in writing drafts for publications.
  • The candidate must have experience with international collaborations.
  • The candidate must be able to work both independently but also serve as an excellent team player.


Who we are

The candidate will be part of the Skrydstrup group, an international group consisting of approximately 4 Post Docs and 8 PhD students, among other students and academic and technical staff.  The group is part of The Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) and the Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 Research Center (CORC).

Deadline

Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range


Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
