Postdoctoral Position in Molecular Microbiology

The Research Unit for Molecular Microbiology (RUMM) at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) invites applications for a 34-month postdoctoral position in Molecular Microbiology within the research group of Professor Birgitte H. Kallipolitis. The position is available from April 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.  

The successful candidate will investigate how Listeria monocytogenes utilizes long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs) to carefully balance its lifestyle as both a harmless saprophyte and a human pathogen. The candidate will employ advanced molecular microbiology techniques, including transposon mutagenesis, transcriptomics, lipidomics, and infection models, to uncover how Listeria senses and responds to LC-PUFAs. 

The ideal candidate will have: 

• A PhD in molecular microbiology. 
• Experience in genetic manipulation of bacteria, including molecular cloning and mutagenesis.
• Experience in -omics technologies and microbial pathogenesis models.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
