The Department of Genomic Medicine at Rigshospitalet is seeking a highly motivated molecular biologist, an MD, or another academic researcher with relevant background to join our team.
Position details: - Start date: Preferably January 1st, 2025, or shortly thereafter
- Duration: 3 years
- Application deadline: Friday, December 6th, 2024
The position is a part of a research group led by Chief Physician, Maria Rossing and funded by a grant from the Danish Cancer Society.
About us: Our research group is dedicated to advancing precision and personalized medicine through state-of-the art diagnostic techniques and high-throughput methodologies. Our overall goal is to expand access to targeted treatment, benefiting more patients.
Project Details The focus of this project is to develop integrative precision medicine approaches that enhance access to targeted treatment for cancer patients. Specifically, we investigate molecular deficiencies in Homologous Recombination DNA repair (HRR) pathway, which can be targeted using precision medicine. Identification of HRR deficiencies (HRD) in tumors are currently performed sub optimally, resulting in fewer HRD-positive cancer patients benefiting from targeted treatment.
The project aims to:
- Functionally explore HRR genetic variants observed in cancer patients using cell-based functional assays
- Analyze genome instability, chromosomal rearrangements, and mutational signatures in tumor samples.
As the postdoctoral researcher, you will:
- Characterize new HRR genetic variants using CRISPR/Cas9 technology and relevant functional assays
- Apply methodologies such as high-throughput sequencing technologies, FACS, advanced microscopy, cell culture and molecular biology assays, and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing
Prior knowledge of at least one of these methodologies is preferred.

- A strong desire to contribute to impactful research
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently
- Experimental expertise in DNA repair and genome maintenance pathways
- A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
- A PhD degree completed before the application deadline
- Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Preferably, experience in CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, cell biology, microscopy, molecular biology, and biochemistry
Place of employment The position is based in the Rossing group at the Department of Genomic Medicine, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen University Hospital, Copenhagen, Denmark.
