Are you eager to make a difference in the green energy transition, working towards a fully carbon neutral, sustainable energy system? Do you enjoy working in a diverse and international team balancing many stakeholders?

Nordic RCC – supporting security of supply and the green energy transition

Nordic Regional Coordination Centre (RCC) provides critical services and insights to support the national Transmission System Operators (TSOs) in Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark — to ensure the efficient operation and use of the Nordic power system and high security of power supply at any time.

Based in Copenhagen, Nordic RCC is one of six RCCs in Europe, equally owned by the Nordic region's four electricity TSOs: Fingrid, Statnett, Svenska Kraftnät, and Energinet.

As European power systems integrate and evolve to meet climate goals, Nordic RCC provides regional coordination, integrated services, regional insights and recommendations to the Nordic TSOs and their control centres, to support cross-border operational security 24/7.

Join Nordic RCC, a fast-developing company determined to make a significant impact in the energy sector and to provide for a secure and efficient transition to the green, sustainable energy system.

Right now, we are looking for a power system engineer who likes to make a difference!

Job description:

Join the Grid Modelling and Alignment team to develop and improve the Nordic Common Grid Model (CGM) and the associated alignment data that forms the basis to ensure secure power market and security of supply. As a power system engineer, you will engage in business process development for the common grid model, power system analyses, continuous quality improvements as well as facilitating coordination with various stakeholders.

Joining the Grid Modelling and Alignment team will allow you to participate in a key area within Nordic RCC. The CGM exist for several time horizons, of which some are fully implemented, while others are under development. This means you will handle both business process development as well as maintaining and continuous improvement of the Common Grid Model.

Joining the Data and Analytics department you will be part of the Nordic RCC organization that focuses on providing insights to quality improvements and continuous performance monitoring.

We value initiative, efficient collaboration and flexibility!

Responsibilities:

As a Power System Engineer in Grid Modelling and Alignment, you will be a part of a dedicated team consisting of power system engineers that address a variety of topics within grid modelling, business process development and analytics. You will support Nordic RCC in maintaining and further enhancing the CGM.

In this role you will be looking into business process development and implementation, business requirements as well as continuous improvement of existing processes and improvement of the quality of the grid models.

Your main responsibilities and tasks will include:

  • Grid model analysis, in collaboration with end users of the grid models
  • Improving and maintaining of the data quality, measured both from a grid model point of view but also seen from end users (capacity calculation, security analysis)
  • Providing grid modelling competence for various functions within the organization
  • Model testing of new functionality in load flow tool, as well as defining business requirements
  • Supporting TSOs in improving the representation and accuracy of their grid models
  • Coordination between TSOs, tooling vendors and between Nordic RCC services
  • Participation in international development projects, e.g. with ENTSO-E
  • Developing the tools used in operations and back-office

Requirements:

You hold a MSc in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field with strong focus on power systems and electricity markets. Additionally, you also have strong competences working with data sets. Ideally, you have at least 3 years of relevant work experience in the industry.

Additional competences:

  • Knowledge of power system simulation tools (POWSYBL, PowerFactory)
  • Programming and scripting skills (python)
  • Knowledge on Common Grid Model Exchange Standard (CGMES)

We are looking for a person with logical problem and issue solving skills, with the ability to interact with colleagues from different fields of expertise, both from the Nordic RCC, the Nordic TSOs and other European RCCs and TSOs. Good understanding of data relations and systems for business processes running in operation is seen as beneficial.

In addition, you are

  • Team-oriented while being able to set your own priorities, taking initiative and drive your work forward
  • Have a structured and organized way of working
  • Communicating easily within different settings
  • Responsible and accountable

What we offer

You will be joining a company of competent, diverse, and enthusiastic colleagues. We are currently 24 nationalities with over 30% women (striving to improve this balance) and all ages.

Your daily workplace will be in our newly furnished office premises in Copenhagen Towers, Ørestad. We offer workplace flexibility to ensure a healthy work-life balance, including the possibility to work from home some of the time.

Our values of fellowship, curiosity, respect, and transparency have been defined by all employees. They identify how we behave and shape the way we work together, and we expect you to see yourself in them.

The position is conditioned upon a satisfactory background check as well as a national security clearance, both of which will be facilitated by Nordic RCC.

Application deadline and contact information

Please apply online as soon as possible (in English) and no later than 21st of April. We may conduct interviews on a continuous basis.

To ensure a fair and unbiased recruitment process, we kindly request that you do not include photographs in your CVs or application materials.
